Luteal Phase bleeding

Back again! Does anybody experience this? I've been wondering I seem to only have this bleeding since trying to conceive so is it perhaps failed implantation? It seems like I spot from 2dpo very lightly at first almost non existent.

I've had everything ruled out except a laparoscopy. My hysteroscopy came back clear. Hormones all okay. I have a small cervix ectropian.

It's really starting to get me down :-(

I litterally just came on to write a similar post. I'm fed up of spotting. Mine starts around 8dpo for a couple of days then BANG... af shows!! Every month! No idea how it why

StarL2021 · 11/03/2021 06:25

@Cakelaur awww sorry to hear you are going through this too. I used to spot 5 days before my period and I fell pregnant okay 7 years ago. My spotting now is through petty much most of the luteal parade so wondering if there is something weird going on. How long have you had this for?

Yep. Have it every month. I also have a cervical erosion. Or did in 2019 when they looked.
With me some months I spot all through my LP. Sometimes it's just the last 3 days. And everything in-between! Really varies. But I've never had less than 3 days. I'm now under the fertility clinic and they are trying my on progesterone this cycle to see if it stops it. My day 21 bloods come back fine though. Currently 11dpo so the next few days will give me an answer!

I have this. I do suffer from PCOS though. I have been told that its due to production of more male hormones and thats caused by the high level of carbs/high sugar in my food. If you don’t have PCOS unsure why you get it. Every gynae i spoke to doesn’t seem to care much when I tell them about it so maybe its normal? I think they are more concerned if its in your follicular phase.

Elakiya · 11/03/2021 12:39

@paintfairy this is a good point it could be due to a luetal phase defect which is usually caused by slow rising prog

NoCallerID · 11/03/2021 13:17

Spotting in the LP can be due to low progesterone. There are herbal remedies (agnus castus) which can help the progesterone levels to increase naturally.

StarL2021 · 12/03/2021 05:48

@paintfairy I have cervical erosion too. Do you think it's this?

My progesterone levels are fine! It's all so bizarre. I'm just worried that if my lining is shedding so early will this affect implantation?

@StarL2021 I never get bleeding through sex so they left the erosion alone. They said it wouldn't be that when I asked. But I did read it could be, so hoped it maybe was. In which case it wouldn't affect anything.
My only wonder was that I could often almost tell when it was going to start by how I felt. My sex drive would increase. Not massively but you aren't meant to want it in your LP. 🤣 I'm now 12dpo and on the progesterone still and no spotting so far. That's nearly unheard of for me. But I've had the odd month over the past few years when it's started as late as today. So I'm waiting to see what happens!

Rockape1992 · 12/03/2021 13:55

Hi I have this too - sometimes I spot as early as 2days after af buggers off, again around ovulation and again in last week or so before af shows up again. Sometimes spotting, sometimes light bleeding. Like you, I have had every test under the sun except lap and all fine. I’ve also cervical issues in the past but nothing sinister. To reassure you, I had been experiencing this before my last pregnancy and I managed to conceive very quickly. I also spotted for about the first three months of my previous pregnancy. I’m also having it now, albeit a bit worse than before, and have been ttc for 6 months with no success yet so hopefully it is just one of those things. My gynae said it can just be normal for some woman to spot throughout their cycle. Not an ideal answer I know as it sucks doesn’t it? Wishing you all the best

paintfairy · 12/03/2021 14:20

@Rockape1992 I think spotting is so difficult! Because there can be so many different reasons! I have been ttc over a year though so you kind of begin assuming it is a problem? Or- something is! 🙄

Rockape1992 · 12/03/2021 15:15

@paintfairy yes that’s true - it can be something or it can be nothing and how are we supposed to know which? It’s very frustrating, I find myself not wanting to dtd when spotting which isn’t ideal when ttc. I think if hormone tests etc have all come back normal then that’s pretty reassuring - if there was something up with your hormones then surely that would have been picked up. I do feel for you, I’m 6 months in and already going crazy so my heart goes out to you. But people do still fall pregnant naturally after a year of trying - I know that probably doesn’t help but try not to give up hope.

paintfairy · 12/03/2021 17:21

@Rockape1992 well my hormone tests were ok but then progesterone stops the spotting? So? That doesn't even make sense! I think the thing i find hard is that they often can't give you answers. Or know why things do and don't work.

Elakiya · 12/03/2021 18:47

@paintfairy how long is your Luetal phase

paintfairy · 12/03/2021 18:49

@Elakiya 14 days

bumphope2020 · 12/03/2021 19:30

Hope you don't mind me jumping on. Been TTC since October 2019. Start spotting anywhere from 8-11dpo. Seen two gynaecologists and neither thought it was an issue. But like you @paintfairy all blood tests etc normal but progesterone stops the spotting so makes no sense?

paintfairy · 12/03/2021 19:36

@bumphope2020 clearly out must be an issue though? Otherwise we'd have a bloody baby! Its very frustrating. Have you been referred to the fertility clinic?

bumphope2020 · 12/03/2021 19:46

@paintfairy I'm finding the NHS super slow. Contacted my GP in sept for referral and heard nothing. Luckily I have very good health insurance through work so I've gone that route. Next step is laparoscopy but been putting it off due to Covid. Do you know your next step?

paintfairy · 12/03/2021 20:31

@bumphope2020 all tests so far ok. Just got HSG left to go. If its OK then we can have IUI. If its not then it'll be IVF. Only entitled to 1 round of IVF on the NHS though.

alpal14 · 01/04/2021 07:40

Hi everyone, I hope you don't mind me jumping into this conversation. I have pretty much the same issues that you have all been talking about. Spotting throughout LP, and sometimes as early as 2 dpo. The pattern of spotting varies each month. All the tests I have had have come back clear, so supposedly nothing wrong with my hormones, and I have also had a scan and all fine there. I also have cervical ectropion, which my doctor treated with silver nitrate back in November.....weirdly, the first cycle after the silver nitrate treatment my spotting went away completely, so I assumed that had been the issue, however each cycle since then the spotting has slowly come back and now it's back to its old tricks 🙄 it's all so strange and so frustrating!

StarL2021 · 09/04/2021 11:59

@alpal14 welcome!! Sorry to hear that you are getting this too. I'm wondering if it is due to the cervical erosion? Sounds like it possibly could be
