Please help!! Positive OPK day before AF?!

Hi All,

I am in my second cycle of TTC.

Last month I had a very heavy jelly like period which was very different to normal. I was a bit confused but it arrived and finished on my usual AF days.

This month, 12-14 DPO, I had a big rush of clear CM with dark red/brown stretches in it. It lasted the one time I went to the toilet. I also had period like cramps but was gone within a couple of hours. This was 2.5 days ago.

All month I tested for ovulation using OPKs and never got a surge. However today, I have the darkest line all month- pic attached. I am 1 day before AF is due.
I rushed to get PG test and got BFN on both. I have no symptoms.

Does anyone know why I got such a dark line on my OPK?! I am so confused right now. I am CD25 and usually start AF between CD24-CD27.

Sounds like you're ovulating late this cycle (or trying to!). It happens sometimes, even to the most regular of ladies! Jump OH to make sure you're covered and fingers crossed for you.

Could you be pregnant? Apparently if you are pregnant an OPK can come up as positive!

Sorry just seen that you took a pg test. So strange that it's negative as also sounds like implantation on 12/14dpo!!

I took an OPK again this morning and still have a surge (top photo)

I did another PG test and still BFN.

I'm starting to get cramps so I feel like AF is on the way but CM is still clear/stretchy.

Has anyone else had a similar experience but gone onto have a BFP or should I give up hope?

Sometimes they can pick up hcg I think it's to do with the protein being similar or something but if it was showing on an opk I'd think it would also show on a pregnancy test by now sorry :(

You can have multiple surges in a cycle including one just before af so they aren't accurate at detecting pregnancy unfortunately :(

I read this too but I think you are right, I would show BFP by now on HCG.
Yeah tried multiple sensitive tests 😩 My cramps have completely gone now. I have no idea what is happening, it's just making me anxious 😥

Hi all, I just wanted to share an update so it can help others in the same situation.

I still have no AF and after 50 pregnancy tests gave up and accepted that I wasn't pregnant. LH surge went right down the day after, so it turns out I was in fact ovulating late.

I believe this unusual delay to be caused by a mix of Pregnacare pre-conception vitamins (taken the first 2 weeks when TTC) but after reading reviews from other women and the side effects they experienced (coincidentally delayed periods, odd cycles) I switched to Seven Seas (Trying for a baby) vitamins which I have taken for 1 month. I decided to look online to see if this also had an effect on some women's cycles and some report exactly the same- delayed cycles. So I have decided I will not continue to take these and will take only folic acid and hopefully my cycles will return to normal.

If you are going through this, I totally understand how you feel as I was so convinced I was pregnant and for days I was in such an anxious whirlwind state.
