Miscarriage and Ovulation tests

Hi,

I had my first miscarriage in May/June 2020. I have recently been tracking my ovulation by using Clear Blue Advanced Digital.
I received the static smiley face on cycle day 18 and I am due on tomorrow. I decided to take another ovulation test cycle day 31 and it was peak with static smiley face again.

Is this wrong? Could I be pregnant or am I just confusing myself for even testing on this CD31. Loosing my mind and can’t sleep now thinking I’m either pregnant or have a condition such as endo or pcos. My cycles are usually between 28-35 days and I was getting investigated for endo in 2015 but fell pregnant with my son and my hectic periods returned to normal.

Thanks for reading and any advice you leave

@user1473880439 Sorry for your loss. 💔
It's not uncommon for the LH hormone to fluctuate throughout the cycle and some women get a peak right before AF.
Ovulation tests can also pick up the pregnancy hormone and give a false reading.
So, essentially, the test you did gave you no real answers. I'm not going to say you made a mistake because that's very harsh and who here can cast the first stone (definitely not me anyway!) 😄 But yes, for your sanity, there is no point in using ovulation tests after you have established your peak. Especially the CB digital ones are very accurate but you have to use them as directed and they do say to stop testing after you get your peak.
I wish you the best of luck, hoping that AF stays away! 🤞🏼 🌈

Thank you so much for your reply ❤️. Driving myself crazy here. I am just going to wait and see what happens as I am due AF today so will see what happens over the next few days. I don’t even know why I tested with CB 🤦🏼‍♀️ I guess it was just there so I did and expected the circle like precious times. Thank you for your reply anyway hopefully I will be able to update soon xxx

Hi, I used those CB ovulation predictors. I might not be correct, but my understanding was once you receive a static smiley with that holder, you will only get another static smiley with that holder if you test again later on (no matter your hormone levels). Its why you have to buy a new kit each month, even if you have test strips left over.

Good luck for your test in a few days! Its hard to have the patience to wait isn't it!

user1473880439 · 10/03/2021 20:54

Thank you for your comment ❤️. I usually track each month using the CB digital advance trackers and I watch my levels fall closer to my period and that is when the empty circle usually displays that’s why I’m so confused as I never usually get another peak 🤦🏼‍♀️. Still waiting on my period arriving as it was due today I honestly just can’t cope with a negative result staring at me so going to wait it out a little longer.

Ohh so I am wrong on the static if you can watch yours fall back to a zero. In that case that is weird and maybe a good sign 🤞🤞🤞

I'm 11 days late atm, and have seen a few depressing neg tests its not fun.

Good luck for your testing!

So sorry, I know how triggering it is to see that negative line but please don’t ever loose hope ❤️

Oh that’s interesting! How late are you?

My period came today, over two weeks late Sad

7 days now. It’s so strange because I’m usually clockwork. Don’t even feel like it’s coming at all I don’t have any of the usual cramping etc. I just feel so nauseous but I also have a UTI currently. Retested with the CB ovulation and got the little circle so wondering if I ovulated late this month and didn’t actually ovulate when I first expected. Honestly not a clue what is going on 🤦🏼‍♀️

Its really stressful when you're late like this right, without knowing why! Hopefully its a good sign for you x

Hi all,

I just wanted to update on my journey. One day after my positive test I began lightly bleeding for 8 days. Five blood draws and 3 ultrasounds later at EPU baby was located in my right Fallopian tube and I am now in the middle of treatment for an ectopic pregnancy. Xx

Oh OP I'm so so sorry. You must have had such a stressful few weeks and I hope your treatment goes well ♥️

I was screened for suspected ectopic pregnancy which turned out not to be the case but I did go on to mc at 9 weeks. I can only understand how you're feeling in that sense but my thoughts are with you.

Do you have plenty of real life support? There's a great thread on the miscarriage/pregnancy loss board with lovely supportive ladies who have been through lots of different situations if you want to join us at any point.

@Madeoftea

So sorry for your loss ❤️. Thank you so much, I have great support but sometimes I find it better connecting with those who truly understand, thank you I am going to have a look now. Even just reading other people’s stories reminds me that I am not alone. Thank you for your kind words ❤️

Sorry to hear of your losses OP and hope things are ok? I've had 3 losses, 11yrs TTC, still no kids and I know it can be hard.

I never got positives with regular, urine opks. Despite the fact I do ovulate. I use a reusable saliva type OPK. Its like a tiny microscope. Put a drop of saliva on, let it dry, then you look at it through the microscope. A fern pattern is peak, whereas dried blobs are not. Worth a try, and so much cheaper in the long run that the urine style ones.

So sorry Op, I've recently been through an ectopic pregnancy and it was tough. I found the waiting to confirm it the hardest bit. But now treatment is finally over I can look forward and feel more positive. Sending you a hug and positive thoughts.
