Does anyone else workout the due date each month around ovulation time?

Currently in TWW but if I don't get a BFP in the next 2 weeks then next ovulation is should be 38 weeks from Christmas Day so I'm thinking about skipping a month just so DC Christmas (the first one they are likely to understand) isn't disrupted by a heavily pregnant mum or a new brother or sister and the potential baby doesn't share its birthday with Christmas. Although I do like the idea of finishing work early for Christmas/mat leave.

Has anyone else skipped TTC for a month to avoid certain dates, or am I over thinking it?

Yes I do the exact same! Also going to skip ttc in April as it would make me due on Christmas eve and as much as I can't wait to get pregnant, I really don't want a December baby bless them x

You never know what's going to happen with conception and childbirth so I definitely wouldn't skip! My DC was very late and therefore a December baby and it's wonderful! Extra magical. My sister was a Christmas baby and there are no negatives attached to it at all. Go for it, it must means a little extra joy!

When ttc both of our children we decided to skip the month that would mean a Christmas baby as neither of us really wanted that and we also have family members who already have birthdays very close to Christmas so on a purely practical level it's an expensive month for us as it is! My sister and her DH avoided ttc a baby due in August as it's a month that holds a lot of sadness in terms of bereavement for them. I think people should do whatever works for them. :)

We have this dilemma and in an ideal world wouldn’t choose a December birthday but once I looked at my dates then it would really mean avoiding 2 months as due dates would be early in the month (Dec and Jan). We decided just to go for it and see what happens.

My son was due December but came early so is a Nov baby. I found it really nice having a newborn at that time of year and now its exciting for him as just after his birthday it's time for Christmas decs 😆 I understand why people would want to skip though.
He took 18 months to concieve so I was just happy to finally get that bfp

Totally your call but I wouldn't bother with the faff of not trying for a month. Your baby could be early/late etc. Also, my birthday is between Xmas and New Year's Eve and it's fab; the world is always lit up so beautifully and it's a lovely, family time.

Arrierttyclock · 05/03/2021 08:12

I'm skipping next month as my due date would be in between Xmas and ny so I'd like to avoid that. I'm carrying on this month tho. I wasn't going to skip as I know how easily things can change but I know I'd be worrying that they'd have a Xmas birthday and I would hate that for them

SquirtleSquad · 05/03/2021 08:19

All of my babies have been between 1 and 4 weeks early or late, I think only 4% of babies are born on their due date.

If I was going to try and control it like that then I'd avoid having an august baby and then being youngest in the school year.

LemonDrizzle44 · 05/03/2021 09:42

If I conceive this month I'll have a due date of 1st December. If I don't my next due date (based on my app predictions) would be the 1st of January. I'm a Christmas baby and many of my family's birthdays are early January. So I think I'll try skipping next month. I'm also due my second covid vaccine dose so this is also helping my decision

SatsumasOrClementines · 05/03/2021 09:49

Would you also need to skip the following month in case they were early?

BirthChoice · 05/03/2021 09:56

I always said I didn’t want an august baby due to the whole school year thing ... hey presto got an August baby!

Then decided that for number two a spring time baby would be nice as I liked having my first baby in the warmer weather but wanted to avoid a late summer baby again.
Now pregnant and due in Octobe. To make matters worse I might have an ELCS making it a late September baby and I only realised this after harping on that I thought September was a smug month for a birthday BlushGrin

We skipped November partly to avoid another August baby and partly because I was super stressed at work. I don’t think the dates alone would have stopped us though, it was more helping reconcile to the fact I couldn’t face all the ttc faff on top of all the other stress.
