Good luck @KG1145 !

@thislittlebird I'd be surprised if the specialist prescribed citalopram if it wasn't suitable whilst pregnant. Can you maybe call and leave a message to check either way?

Fredsmama · 16/03/2021 21:46

Thank you @KG1145. Yes Tommy’s are an amazing charity and very helpful. I lost my first baby at 26 wks in 2019 and they were so supportive. I’m glad you were able to get in touch with them. Fingers crossed for you and your CB digi! Xx

thislittlebird · 16/03/2021 21:52

@Marvellouslymadmum crazy that you'd not had it diagnosed before too. Good to hear you can change them, I'm just so baffled by it because it's so new to me.

@KG1145 yeah, and I think these immune system links are being spoken about and researched a lot more now but it's been overlooked for a long time.

@Noodella18 she knew I was ttc, so I doubt it's terrible for ttc as such but as an anxious sort I think I'll address it when I see her in 3 weeks time. I might take the one she's given me for now and see how I get on. Expectations of conceiving are through the floor so I'm not too worried about taking it now, more if I can achieve a pregnancy.

Twelvestars · 16/03/2021 21:57

@thislittlebird I don’t remember the Citalopram dose cause it was back in 2012. Most probably 10 mg. But I remember within weeks feeling significantly better and more robust and just a year later I was ready to go off it. But perhaps @Noodella18 has a point about sertraline and ttc! It’s best to discuss this with your doctor.

Twelvestars · 16/03/2021 22:00

Also @thislittlebird and anyone here, have you tried CBT? Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I received CBT counseling over a period of time (also during 2011/12) and though I was skeptical at first, I cannot stress how life altering it was...

Twelvestars · 16/03/2021 22:09

@Loladoodle I’ve been worrying about this new 22 day cycle thing but my consultant didn’t seem too concerned since I ovulate day 10/11. I wasn’t entirely convinced but now more reassured by your experience! So there’s hope haha! I recently started with magnesium and B6 (one pill together). I take waaaaaaaay too vitamins it’s so funny! I’m guessing like most ladies here 😅

sickofthisyear · 16/03/2021 22:10

Hi ladies- I can't keep up but just a couple of things:
For those taking b6, what days do you take them? Just post ovulation or just coming up to period? I only need them for PMS and don't want to mess up rest of my hormones too much.
Sorry, pharmacist here so have to just weigh in 🙈
@thislittlebird definitely check again with dermatologist- people do get pregnant while on common antibiotics but Lymecycline isn't commonly used (except in dermatology!) and they'll need to discuss the risks with you. All meds in pregnancy^^ really come down to risk:benefit. I'm on meds that have a risk but the effect of stopping them could potentially be much more harmful to me and a baby so I had to stay on them. Same principle applies for SSRIs, but again that's something the Dr should fully inform you about so you can decide.
Agree re: CBT. I found it really helpful.
Not much to report here on CD2. Just getting period done with....

@Marvellouslymadmum that’s great your partner is doing well on Sertraline! yes you know with antidepressants it’s also a very personalized experience. What works for one person might not work for another.

Marvellouslymadmum · 16/03/2021 22:22

@Fredsmama so sorry to hear of your loss, must be devastating at such a late stage 😔 good that you had support though.

@thislittlebird if you're worried I'd definitely call and check but I'm sure it'll be ok

@Twelvestars I haven't but it's something I'm definitely keen on my partner trying, think it would do him the world of good! I'm going to start rattling with the amount of vitamins I'm taking!

@sickofthisyear I've only started my b6 yesterday but I was thinking whole month, I'm cd2 here too

KG1145 · 16/03/2021 22:43

@Twelvestars

Also *@thislittlebird* and anyone here, have you tried CBT? Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I received CBT counseling over a period of time (also during 2011/12) and though I was skeptical at first, I cannot stress how life altering it was...
That's really interesting to hear about the CBT. I was recommended it after I had sepsis as I started having panic attacks but I was very skeptical, I identified the trigger and mostly ok now but still suffer with anxiety, esp health anxiety. It's good to hear that it does work!
Twelvestars · 16/03/2021 22:47

Just a correction - only because it’s been 8 years and my memory fails me sometimes - but Escitalopram (Cipralex) and not Citalopram. 2 letters but makes all the difference. My bad!

@sickofthisyear CBT is great! Did you receive it for anxiety as well? And as for B6 and the rest of my vitamins, I take them daily!

Twelvestars · 16/03/2021 22:50

@KG1145 sorry you had to go through that. Panic attacks are goddam awful. So is anxiety 😅 I would say give CBT a try. If it doesn’t help, it won’t hurt, you know?

KG1145 · 16/03/2021 22:50

@Fredsmama

Thank you *@KG1145*. Yes Tommy’s are an amazing charity and very helpful. I lost my first baby at 26 wks in 2019 and they were so supportive. I’m glad you were able to get in touch with them. Fingers crossed for you and your CB digi! Xx
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your first baby. I don' know what to say, how heartbreaking xx
sickofthisyear · 16/03/2021 22:56

@KG1145 I was the same! really skeptical, but I actually found it very helpful for anxiety/panic which had certain triggers. More 'practical' than talking therapy which I've also had.
@Fredsmama I'm so sorry, a late loss like that must be particularly heartbreaking. I hope this year brings you some happiness.

Twelvestars · 16/03/2021 23:02

@Fredsmama sorry just saw this (this thread moves so fast) but I wanted to say that I truly admire your strength for enduring such a loss at 26 weeks and your first...

Marvellouslymadmum · 16/03/2021 23:37

@KG1145 that's what my partner suffers with - health anxiety! He gets anxiety for other reasons but majorly over health and sometimes panic attacks too 😕

thislittlebird · 17/03/2021 00:04

@sickofthisyear
I’ve only taken b6 after ovulation so far, until cycle day 1. Purely because I didn’t want to mess anything up cycle wise and I’m looking forward to hearing reports from everyone on it all cycle.

I had wondered if you worked in medical ~something~. I will speak to her again but she most definitely knew I was ttc because it came up a couple of times and I asked her about the steroids particularly because I was about to get an injection.

The anxiety med doesn’t worry me so much until I’m pregnant really, and the odds of that seem slim. My main concern with that is I have no idea how these things work so I’m going to raise coming off on switching etc when I see her.

@Twelvestars I’ve had CBT when I was doing my degree as an adult, it was ok. Not sure I learned anything I could not have taught myself about anxiety management from a book if I’m being very honest but I have some handy worksheets to help me talk myself down on occasion as a result of it. I also did some grievance counselling back in the day, which was different again and I guess more helpful because I got to offload and talk.

I’m not sure if you can just call with private really @Marvellouslymadmum. I guess you can’t do that with consultants on the NHS either, really, but you might get a call back. I’m not too worried, I’m seeing her in three weeks.

sickofthisyear · 17/03/2021 00:42

I took 100mg b6 pretty much all of last cycle until I realised that it definitely affecting hormones. Boobs full and more sensitive and spotty chin outbreak, neither of which are normal for my cycle. They don't bother me as such (#masklife) but it made me worry that it could be upsetting the balance of hormones in there somehow. I didn't have much EWCM this month in FW either. Going to try starting after ov this month- I definitely felt the benefits on the depressive symptoms of PMS. Maybe will try 100mg alternate days or something.

Farfaraway1 · 17/03/2021 05:58

Hi ladies I’m 37, on cycle 8 of ttc and this month I’m going to try ovulation sticks! I’m pretty excited 😂 I haven’t tried them before but now I’d really like the reassurance of knowing that I am ovulating (or not!!) and that I’m hopefully not broken.. what advice have you got for a newbie ovulation tester? Test once a day around ovulation and see what results I get? Or should I be testing twice a day, morning and night?

Marvellouslymadmum · 17/03/2021 07:25

@thislittlebird I think you can call up then get a call back, that's what I used to do if I needed to speak to my some paediatrician, but if you're seeing her in three weeks theres probably no need.

Hi @Farfaraway1 I'm not the best to give advice as I didn't have much luck with them for a long time I've ended going for the clearblue digital advanced now as they're so much easier to read but yes I'd say if it's the strips test once a day to start off with, if you think you ov around day 14 with a 28 day cycle start about day 10 then when it gets higher you can test twice a day until you get your peak

Farfaraway1 · 17/03/2021 07:49

Thanks @Marvellouslymadmum ! Will give that a go.. I’d love to go down the digital route but unfortunately they’re super expensive where I live so going to try with some cheapies (which even those are expensive here!) and see how they go.. ☺️

Loladoodle · 17/03/2021 07:59

@Twelvestars how much b6 is in your vitamin? I take 50mg and I think would need to be that high a dose to make an impact.

@sickofthisyear I take the b6 all cycle as i don’t think it works for pms otherwise I feel I have to have it in my system. Maybe try lower dose every day instead of higher dose?

@Fredsmama I can’t even imagine goofing through what you have, so heartbreaking but so strong to be here and ttc again ❤️

Re CBT, I would definitely agree it is a great therapy and beneficial for anxiety as well as a number of other difficulties. I have both tried it myself following my mmc and also used the strategies on others (for work purposes). I know friends who have also benefited greatly from it. Worth a try for anyone having struggles with anxiety, mh or emotional well being.

Loladoodle · 17/03/2021 08:15

@Fredsmama *excuse my shocking typo- obvs meant to say going not goofing 😳 fingers typing too fast for my morning brain!

thislittlebird · 17/03/2021 08:26

Yeah it’s not long to wait @Marvellouslymadmum

@sickofthisyear I know I’ve read taking it with magnesium is good because it gets the oestrogen working properly too, but I get the worry and that’s why I tried only in the LP so far. I only took 50mg daily and my boobs were sore in like a wave /////\ when the dose was taken and then when wearing off.

The masks are handy like that.

@Farfaraway1 similar to mmm, I totally failed to get on with the internet cheapies so I’m using the pricier clear blue ones and I’m not super knowledgeable. I think a few people here use easy@home.

Speaking of ovulation sticks, I got a LOW reading again today (cd8). So something has clearly calibrated somewhat, either my body or the machine. Will be interested to see how it goes in terms of day of ovulation etc this month.

thislittlebird · 17/03/2021 08:28

Sorry to hear your story @Fredsmama, I’m just scrolling back up. Good to hear Tommy’s were supprotive.
