@Loladoodle how old are you if you don’t mind me asking? And have you checked with doctors and all that? We are ttc #1 and I so badly want it to happen and feel like I would only stop if my test results came negative and I’ve exhausted several options and several opinions. I know it’s an emotional mountain to climb. Goodluck anyways. 🤞🏻 it happens for you before end of year.

Twelvestars · 12/03/2021 18:42

@thislittlebird btw thanks for mentioning B6! You reminded me of it so yesterday got some magnesium+B6 pills! Hope that helps. Btw I’ve read a lot about acupuncture here on mumsnet. How long have you been having it for? And has it really helped? If you’ve already rescheduled, then yeah maybe it would help to compare and see how your body behaves this month without the acupuncture!

climbershell · 12/03/2021 18:44

Sorry just too much for me to do anything but skim read

@KG1145 looks bfp to me!

For everyone taking about counting cycle start day, I don't count spotting, I count first day of proper flow

Well deserved both being shattered, we dtd last night to get rid of dead sperm, even told OH that was the reason 😅 so glad we don't need to today as I'm absolutely shattered from work and prob be in bed by 10pm!

Excited that it's pretty much the start of fertile window tho, cd8 tomorrow 😃

Loladoodle · 12/03/2021 18:46

@Twelvestars I am 38 OH is 31. We made a decision not to proceed to tests when we started ttc as we won’t be considering ivf. We take most things that could improve sperm and egg quality anyway so I don’t feel the tests are necessary. We are more of the mind if it’s meant to be it will be.

Twelvestars · 12/03/2021 18:46

@KG1145 @thislittlebird WS is epic!!! It should be submitted to the official acronyms list on mumsnet. See below 👇🏻

Loladoodle · 12/03/2021 18:46

@selina and other re B6. It is an absolute Godsend for pms!!!!!

Twelvestars · 12/03/2021 18:48

@Loladoodle you’re right. That’s a very healthy approach. Hopefully it will be.

Marvellouslymadmum · 12/03/2021 19:05

@thislittlebird I'm wondering if I should start the b6 now as my progesterone was so high this month 🤔 or maybe it'll help doing the same other money he too!

@KG1145 love that there's now a WS abbreviation 😂

@Twelvestars I never knew there was an official list!

JessWi · 12/03/2021 19:06

Is it ok if I join please ladies? I’m 35 and been TTC for the past year, starting to get very 😕 about the whole thing, be lovely to share the journey with others who knows how it feels

02Carol · 12/03/2021 19:37

@Kitekat81
Sorry you got disappointing news, I can understand why you might feel poop, but it does just take one, so try not to focus on the negative,

thislittlebird · 12/03/2021 19:41

Welcome to the thread @JessWi, I know that feeling well!

What dose did you get @Marvellouslymadmum? I’m doing 50mg per day after ovulation. I saw a woman on here who used 100mg for her low progesterone (12, mine was 10) and got preggers the same month, but she was saying it gave her super sore boobs, which I understand now having had some soreness off and on this month at 50mg. I didn’t want to overdo it but I might try 100mg after all this skin stuff is sorted. Maybe you could take a lower dose or every other/every couple of days all month?

I think there’s a setting where you can turn the acronyms on or off, I think I turned it off ages ago.

@Twelvestars great that they do them with magnesium, did it explain why? I saw the same woman I just mentioned recommend the magnesium from her research and did have a google and I think it said something like it helps to regulate hormones.

The acupuncture is a weird one because I have only been once (18 Feb, a few days after Feb AF) and I’m so sure it’s what made my ovulation early this month. I don’t think anything else could have done that. I say early, it was actually day 14/15 vs my “normal” day 16-18. I didn’t do anything else that could change that tmk, so I’m fairly sure it might have been the acu because I’ve been stressed out this month over my various issues so it’s not like I suddenly destressed, you know? I had a 26 day cycle for maybe the first time ever but I’m ok with that if it made my AF normal again, it feels like my uterus is functioning properly compared to the last six months.

sickofthisyear · 12/03/2021 19:55

I've been taking 100mg, but have missed the odd day, definitely affected boobs and cervical mucus. I've read the main evidence for Vit B6 helping PMS is about the serotonin and dopamine effects, but from my (our!) experience it definitely affects progesterone symptoms. A lot of menstrual symptoms are about the balance between progesterone and estrogen though, not just how high/low your progesterone is. Drs are a bit funny about estrogen dominance but I found this really interesting.

@lexber SO...;

AF is aunt flo aka period
DTD is do the deed and BD is baby dance aka shagging
DP, DH, DS D anything is dear partner/husband/son etc
(I hate all of the above and never use them! I have never referred to my period as aunt flo in my life!! Urgh!!)

CD is cycle day
OPK is ovulation predictor kit
FRER is First Response Early Result
EWCM is egg white cervical mucus
IC is internat cheap
SA is sperm analysis
CP is chemical pregnancy
(M)MC is (missed) miscarriage
BFP/N is big fat positive/negative
POAS is pee on a stick

That's all I can think of!

Noodella18 · 12/03/2021 20:08

Internet cheapy ie a cheap preggo test

Twelvestars · 12/03/2021 20:08

@JessWi welcome! This place has been a godsend for me! Have you been using ovulation tests and all that? Feel free to share your story.

@thislittlebird I have come across a few positive reviews about acupuncture regarding cycles and fertility. My cycle is 22 days for the past 2 months and I would love to extend it to 25-28 days.

Well like you said magnesium and B6 together provide adequate hormonal balance but also when taken together they are better absorbed especially magnesium. I remember when I had unexplained knee and back pain that last for months a few years back, my doctor prescribed Magnesium+B6 three times a day for 2 weeks and the pain subsided (along with 8 sessions of physiotherapy).

Marvellouslymadmum · 12/03/2021 20:23

Hi @JessWi welcome this is a lovely bunch of supportive ladies!

@thislittlebird I got 50mg as I figured if it was low I could just take two tablets! Little did I know that it would be really high this month, I've had really sore boobs too which I never ever get l, so I've got a feeling the pregnacare that I've been taking for 6 weeks and the b complex for about 10 days may have helped the levels. Also still got barely any ewcm though so I'll be adding b6, epo and more Pom juice and pineapple this month lol

@sickofthisyear that's interesting reading! I'm not really quite sure why the doc said all my levels were ok as from what I can tell my oestrogen is too high!

selina37 · 12/03/2021 20:29

@Loladoodle yep, we have that outlook too - hopefully it will happen. Otherwise I'm happy I've found love and happiness with a partner.

thislittlebird · 12/03/2021 20:49

@Marvellouslymadmum did they give you your test numbers? I might have missed that

Are you taking b6 all month? @sickofthisyear
I’m not sure whether to do it all month for ~the balance~ or just carry on as I was post ovulation.

Can’t take my seven seas this month. After my antibiotic I start another drug and it says no iron and no zinc with it, so back to folic acid and vitamin d for me.

Good to hear taking the magnesium with the b6 was a good plan then @Twelvestars

sickofthisyear · 12/03/2021 20:58

@thislittlebird yes, I took it most of this month. Only noticed sore boobs etc after ovulation though. Didn't want to stop taking before period as was worried bad PMS would 'descend' but now I'm worried it will delay period 🤷🏻‍♀️ Will keep you posted I guess!

OP posts:
Marvellouslymadmum · 12/03/2021 21:09

@thislittlebird yes it was quite early this morning I posted though so waaay back on the thread haha this is them -

progesterone is 60.5 and should be 13.1-46.3 in the luteal phase,
FSH 4.5 should be 1.7-7.7 in Lp
LH 8.6 should be 1.0-11.4 in Lp
Oestrogen 1127 should be 222-854 in Lp

So I have very high progesterone and oestrogen and according to some info I've read the fsh and Lh should be around equal or it points to pcos if the Lh is twice as much as fsh which it is yet the doc just said 'all levels are fine, no need to do anything further, you ovulated this month no more tests!' Which I was pretty disappointed with especially as yes I've Ov this month but doesn't mean I do every month but I've got a phone appointment with another doc Monday to discuss it see what she says 🤷🏼‍♀️

Loladoodle · 12/03/2021 23:27

@selina37 ❤️ Ditto

@Twelvestars just realised I said I’m 38... I wish! I’m actually 39 😅 also re B6 I have taken this for a long time and it not only lengthens my cycles but reduces spotting and horrible pls symptoms - I have taken this. (Outside of pregnancy) for approx 6 years 👍

thislittlebird · 13/03/2021 06:38

@Twelvestars I forgot to say, are you considering acupuncture for your cycles? Could be worth a shot. It just seemed to realign mine this month as such, was weird.

@sickofthisyear yes, keep me posted, I would be interested to know! I’m laying off the supplements while I’m on all these drugs so I can’t cause any accidental issues. Just vitamin c, d and folate.

@Marvellouslymadmum oh that is high progesterone and oestrogen. Did they say why? Mine are all on the lower side.

I guess there’s no way to tell if you’re ovulating every month without testing it every month (or temping) but with that progesterone level you must be. Maybe the magnesium and b6 might be good to regulate everything? Might be worth a google on that topic.

Side note but I love seeing people’s results, they’re interesting, hadn’t even heard of most of these things a few months ago.

LT103 · 13/03/2021 07:33

Hi guys. I haven’t been on this thread in a few months. Took a bit of a mn break!
How is everyone???was wondering how everyone was.

Nothing exciting to add here yet. Had bloods and sa and currently awaiting fertility referral so just a bit of a waiting game!!!

Loladoodle · 13/03/2021 08:13

@LT103 hi 🙋‍♀️ good to hear from you, that’s good fertility referral is progressing for you. How are you feeling about it all? All good with me, cycle 13.... still here not pregnant😬

KG1145 · 13/03/2021 08:13

Does anyone know anything about gluten free.

My acupuncturist said I should be gluten free. Ive already made switches with pasta and cereal and cut down on bread etc but she says I should be totally gluten free and not just cut down. It's quite a drastic change and I'm just wondering why and if cutting down would be enough.... I.e. Can I eat the banana muffins me and my little one made or finish off his left over toast... 🙈

I just wondered if anyone had any experience of this
