Could I pull up a chair please? 35 TTC for almost a year now DH is 39 and he keeps thinking he is 'old'. OPK sticks are turning nothing is sticking though / cycles are regular, short luteal phase hovering around 8days. DTD regularly. Got the ball rolling with GP this week for referral to hospital ✨❤️

thislittlebird · 11/03/2021 12:13

Definitely don’t do digitalis

thislittlebird · 11/03/2021 12:16

Welcome to the thread @mrsmacmc! My husband is 39 too, he’ll be 40 in November. He never wanted to be “an old dad” but here we are nonetheless.

Have you had any tests yet? Could try some vitamins for your LP, although so far none have changed mine (not that I’m trying to do that, just an observation).

Marvellouslymadmum · 11/03/2021 12:29

@KG1145 ooh I do see it! 🤞🏻 it gets nice and strong for you 😊

@mrsmacmc welcome, my oh just turned 40 two weeks ago and feels like he's ancient 🙄 which I keep telling him not to be ridiculous as I'm about to turn 42 lol

KG1145 · 11/03/2021 12:33
@KG1145 what dpo are you?
11 days I think. 11 days since I got the smiley on CB digital. Still very early!

KG1145 · 11/03/2021 12:37

@Loladoodle

Sorry didn’t mean to post yet...**@KG1145**

Maybe do a digi in the morning give 24 hours to get hcg up? I know it’s hard to hold off but if it says not pregnant when you def have a line you will feel anxious until you can test again tomorrow.

Yes. Definitely think you're right with waiting! Tomorrow may even be too early for the CB test. I'll have a read 🤞
KG1145 · 11/03/2021 12:40

@thislittlebird

Yes. Think another frer tomorrow to see if it's darker.

I saw a consultant privately before and he recommended progesterone. Not based on any blood tests or anything but he said it's a cautious approach as I've had two MCs. I'm hoping I might be able to convince my Dr to give it me on the NHS but I think it'll be a huge longshot

thislittlebird · 11/03/2021 13:26

I keep typing digitalis instead of digitalis 😭

The digis will confuse you, stick to the traditional ones.

Hello - I've been lurking and was hoping I could join? I'm 5 months into trying for #2.

I'm nearly 36 and DH is 38. I'm 8dpo but already know I'm out as my PMS symptoms are depressingly the same every single month, although my cycles vary.

I'm not sure who mentioned the vaccine, but I'm fretting about this too. I think I would have at least the first dose if I'm still TTC by then but also wonder if I got pregnant how it would impact needing to distance from everyone etc., it's a tough decision isn't it.

There is a calculator where you can see an estimated date for getting a vaccine: www.omnicalculator.com/health/vaccine-queue-uk#atrisk

Anyway, enough about me, good luck to you all!

Marvellouslymadmum · 11/03/2021 14:56

Well results are in - Iran has improved a lot but still not quite where it should be so I now go down to one tablet a day and check again in 6 months. For the other things she just said it's all fine and was reluctant to embellish on that, progesterone was high oestrogen and Lh fine so definitely ovulated this month but didn't actually give me any levels or anything. I asked about any other tests amh or afc and she said there's nothing else we would do at primary level as you're ovulating! On one hand I'm a bit cross as I'm sure they should check those too but on the other I'm thinking maybe it's because they think it was down to iron and want to wait and see if it works. I'm kind of left wondering what to do now

Marvellouslymadmum · 11/03/2021 14:56

Erm major typo iron has improved not Iran 🤦🏼‍♀️

Noodella18 · 11/03/2021 16:47

@CloseYourMouthLynn hi and welcome! I'm 37 and trying for #2 as well, first month here though :) Thanks for that link, it's very useful!

@KG1145 if your consultant said you need to start progesterone when you get pregnant, I would contact them now. There is clearly a line there, and what's the worst that could happen anyway - even if it turned out to be an evap or a chemical (fingers firmly crossed not) you would just stop taking the progesterone. There will probably be a lead time while it gets processed anyway, by which point you will know for sure if the line is darker, and then the progesterone will be ready for you to start taking.

TTCat39 · 11/03/2021 17:07

Hello @CloseYourMouthLynn I had the vaccine the day before I ovulated during my last cycle. I have to admit I was worried about that, but with OH having a lung condition it is important for me to keep him as safe as possible.
I was concerned about potential side effects throwing my body out of sync and potentially not creating the best environment for early pregnancy. I don't know enough about epidemiology to be concerned about any other potential effects of the vaccine when TTC, except that the NHS advice says that there is no problem conceiving after receiving the jab.
As it turned out, I had no side effects whatsoever and no BFP that month, so onwards we go. If we are still TTC when my second jab comes around, I will have it. But we won't wait until afterwards to keep trying. If I am lucky enough to get a BFP before then, I'll run through the risks with my husband's consultant.

mrsmacmc · 11/03/2021 17:20

@Marvellouslymadmum and @thislittlebird thank you for the welcome

No formal tests yet they've done the usual rummage around checks as my healthboard it's 38 for referral after 6 mo TTC. I'm on pregnacare vitamins and DH is on the male version.

Twelvestars · 11/03/2021 18:10

@Marvellouslymadmum now your typo was indeed major(ly funny) haha. Great for your iron improvement and the fact you’ve ovulated. About AMH, I’ve read that the reason some doctors are reluctant to test for it is that it’s not always indicative of one’s odds of conceiving. Also can they not email your results with actual levels/numbers? Was that with your regular GP? Or private gyno? AFC I think would need to be done on day 3 of your cycle. AMH any time. Did they also test for FSH? Perhaps that’s why she wasn’t too keen on AMH cause FSH and LH together are somewhat indicative and if the FSH:LH ratio is 1:1 and within range for your age there would be no need for AMH. That’s just me guessing based on my research.

Lexber · 11/03/2021 18:12

Hi all,
Newbie here, I've been hovering about since yesterday not sure if to post yet or not? As I only had my coil out yesterday so very new to this.

I'm 35 in the summer - hope that lets me join you lovely ladies??
I have 2 daughters aged 14 and 10 from a previous relationship and my partner and I have decided we would like a baby together (his first) so it's pretty scary as all new to me (the girls were lovely surprises!)
I don't have a clue about opk or temp charting or anything ttc related so excuse my lack of knowledgeable stupid questions I'm likely to ask..
I've been bleeding since I had my removal yesterday first thing. It eased last night but started fresh this morning and reminded me of a light period- I've had the coil for 9 years so it's been a while!
I have no clue if this will mess up my previous 28 day cycle (spotted slightly on coil or nothing) or I will drop back into it? Any advice or help is greatly appreciated.

X

02Carol · 11/03/2021 18:29

Evening ladies, I've been following for a couple of days.

Just turned 38, TTC#1, 3rd Cycle since began trying, CD12, begin testing with CB O on 15th, also trying to DTD every other day since AF ended.

Not told anyone TTC, so this and you ladies are keeping me sane. Thank you in advance!

Looking forward to seeing BFP's!!!

Marvellouslymadmum · 11/03/2021 19:02

@Twelvestars I should really learn to read what I've written before I press post not after! 😂 I've sent an email requesting the results myself and it's with the regular gp. She did fsh and Lh as well but the blood was all taken on day 21 the same time as progesterone and oestrogen and I'm sure that should have been taken day 3. I'll have a look and see what they are when I get the results through though and see what they say.

Hi @Lexber and welcome, I too have two teenagers from a previous relationship and we are ttc our first together. As far as I am aware it will depend if the coil you had is one with or without hormones as that's what effects the cycle most and the one with will take longer to return to normal, temps are easy you just take it at the same time every morning before you get up with a bbt thermometer (about £10) and out in an app and the rest is plotted for you then you kind of grasp it as you go along, opk are helpful for you to know when your cycle is back to normal and on going when you ovulate, a lot of people use the cheap strips like Femometer or easy at home but I couldn't get on with the damn things so use the clear blue digital advance connected which is expensive but easy to read and more accurate. Plus I get mine on eBay brand new and sealed with a short shelf life for less than half price. Hope that helps

Hi @02Carol and welcome, lots of lovely ladies to chat to on here, we haven't told anyone we are ttc either so this really helps.

I'm on approx #37 been ttc since April 2018 had two mc and two cp and I'm 42 we are currently having tests investigatingwhats going on or not going on lol

Noodella18 · 11/03/2021 19:07

Hi @02Carol ! We're cycle buddies :) I'm on CD 13 but we've both had a sickness bug so have only managed to have sex once!

@Lexber welcome :) was yours the hormonal coil? I read that your cycle should go straight back to normal because the amount of hormones involved is low, much lower than the pill apparently. I had a copper coil so had normal periods with mine.

Twelvestars · 11/03/2021 19:12

Hi @Lexber welcome here! Sorry I don’t know about coils at all though!

Welcome @02Carol I am 37 and ttc #1. There’s a couple of us here trying for our first. I haven’t told anyone either except my sister (she’s a doctor) and the ladies here. Keeping me very sane and patient.

Noodella18 · 11/03/2021 19:13

I'm over the sickness bug but my partner is still feeling rough! I've told him that he's just going to have to lie back and think of England for the next 4 nights cause we are not missing ovulation!

Having said that these bloody opks are a nightmare, I haven't had a score above 0.3 and they are all marked as 'low' on the premom app. I had a bit of ewcm today and have been feeling fruity so I guess I'll just take that as a sign that ovulation is coming... Just looked back at my calendar and my cycle has been 28 days or 30 days - but depending on when I count it as starting - do you consider that it's started if you wipe and it's a bit pink, or when things actually get going enough that you need to use a pad?

Twelvestars · 11/03/2021 19:16

@Marvellouslymadmum you’re right about FSH and LH being taken during day 2 - day 5. But AMH can be tested anytime. Yes let’s see what their response is. I would inquire about AMH and maybe redoing FSH LH on day 3? And even an ultrasound for AFC (day 3)! I know I’m crazy but I am the type that would have all angles covered. I’m gonna do all those starting next week.

Marvellouslymadmum · 11/03/2021 19:24

@Noodella18 men are a nightmare when they're ill aren't they?! Good luck with your dtd!

@Twelvestars yes this is the problem so she's done the fsh and Lh but on day 21 instead of three and said there's no need for any further tests as everything's ok as far as primary care is concerned! But I'm pretty sure I'm entitled to get either those done again on the correct day or amh and the afc scan! If they won't do it I'll have to pay privately which will be £70 for the scan I believe and around the same for an amh plus I think we will end up paying for an sa too as the oh is reluctant to talk to anyone about it and that way he can do it at home etc so that would be another £70 🙄
