Falling HCG levels confused

Hi, this is my first time posting here and im very confused and emotionally drained. I found out I was expecting 10/02/21, on the 26/02/21 I went to the ER due to pain and they said they would treat me as an suspected ectopic, took my hcg and it was 9800, 2 days later I went back and my levels had dropped to 8000. Having had a missed mc at 12 weeks before I immidialty knew the worst was due to come. Fast forward to 01/03/21 I have a scan and the lady said there's a nice looking sac in the right place and thats all she would expect to see at this point (5 weeks), i cried and asked about my falling hcg and she just said she wished people wouldn't focus on the numbers and everything could be just fine. I've another scan booked in two weeks time but im just distraught. I feel like everything she said was wrong and gave me false hope, ive had no bleeding but I just feel like hcg dropping 1800 in two days is absolutly a sign of the worst ?

No personal experience with this but a quick google immediately shows "However, falling hCG levels are not a definitive sign of miscarriage, even with bleeding. Sometimes, hCG levels drop, but then rise again and the pregnancy continues normally. " So I'm crossing my fingers that's what happened to you!

Juno231 thankyou for your reply, im just beside myself in limbo not wanting to get my hopes up and not able to mourn, its absolutly agonising especially with my past. I'll update when I know more or if bleeding starts etc. Just all a helpless waiting game

I conceived around March 10th. My hcg on 26 March was 240. I had spotting with cramps and my hcg dropped to 140. Drs assumed ectopic or miscarriage. 1st April my hcg went up to 450. I have a scan on Apr 5. Anyone experience fall n rise of hcg. It's driving me mad. When they scanned me they said my womb lining is thick and corpus producing hcg. Maybe I'm too early to see gestational sac. My confusion is the rise n fall. They checked for ectopic and ruled it out atm. Please help

Hi mira19, there's a few different things this could be. Unfortunately my levels fell and I had a miscarriage but they never rose again, vanishing twin is one explanation where you lose a twin and upon reabsorption your hcg levels fall and then rise again, blighted ovum, another could be just one of those things and another that I found regularly while looking online aside from a vanishing twin was that you miscarried and fell pregnant again ! Fingers crossed everything turns out well for you!

Thankyou for responding. I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope everything works out for you. The vanishing twin is an interesting one. We have not done the deed since I found I was pregnant. I don't know much about blighted ovum I will check it out. I will update once I had my scan. Fingers crossed

I had my scan and dr saw a 4 week gestational sac. According to ovulation dates I'm about 5.5-6 weeks. It could be blighted ovum. I have another scan in 1 weeks time. Very stressful times

Hi mira19 sorry you're going through this, did you get an update ? Sounds very similar to what I went through
