Faint line, very late...?

Hi,

I got this line today, I'm 33 days late. I had my baby in Jan 2020 and only had my first period 26th Dec 2020. I was and am still breastfeeding.
So I should have been due on 23rd Jan 2021. I had a v light spotting on 15th Jan this year. Like micro dots spotting. So thought nothing of it. I had ewcm for about 2 weeks when my period was due in Jan so I just thought my body is totally messed up. I'm pretty certain we didn't dtd during fertile phase in Jan 2021 but maybe a week or more m after. So could all my dates be out.

This line just seems far too light for me to think I'm 33 days late. I've had a mmc in the past so I'm very scared of that happening again and I remember the line didn't get any darker with that.

What do you guys think?

Help....

Faint line, very late...?

The line is actually a bit darker in real life than in the picture but still not as dark as the control line. My hands are shaking so finding it hard to get a decent picture.

I think maybe your periods aren’t quite back to normal yet so you ovulated later than you thought 🙈

User1511 · 25/02/2021 16:03

From the sounds of things your period was not back in a regular cycle and you should not assume you’re 8 weeks pregnant. I’d assume closer to 4 weeks and you ovulated at the end of January.

Congratulations on your pregnancy x

Drumstick1223 · 25/02/2021 16:03

@Mooey89 it does seem that way doesn't it?
It's not a bad thing but just obviously unplanned.
I just can't get the fear of the mmc out of my head.

My dates would be messed cos hospital would go by LMP wouldn't they and that doesn't seem right.

I've been totally exhausted but not unusual with a 1 yo.

I also meant to mention, I had a negative text a couple of days after my period should have been due on 23rd Jan, so that's what's making me think my dates are all messed up. I don't know what to make of this and I don't know what to do.
Can't book an early scan... as don't know my dates.
Slightly freaking out x

Take a deep breath, it will all be ok.
Can you not wait two weeks, in that time contact GP/midwifery, and then in 2 weeks when you’ll be at least 6 weeks book an early scan for dating purposes.
You have options if it’s not the right time for you and things will be ok. X

Drumstick1223 · 25/02/2021 16:08

@User1511 thank you, that's what I'm thinking. Obviously unplanned but would be delighted. Just scared thinking about the mmc though and the faint line. But it definitely makes sense to me that my dates are all out. X

Looks like you’re about four weeks.

Here’s what I’d do:

Keep testing every 48hrs with FRER to check progression

Book an early scan for 2-3 weeks to check for placement and heartbeat, which shows at 6-7 weeks. After that you can tell NHS as you’ll have more info on how far you are.

Good luck.

Drumstick1223 · 25/02/2021 16:11

@Mooey89 thank you, yes deep breaths. It will be ok and will be delightful if everything is ok. Just so fearful about the mmc and the faintish line.

You're right the only thing I can do is wait really.

I guess I could take a test in a week to see if it has darkened.

Drumstick1223 · 25/02/2021 16:13

@LividLoving thank you, yes that all makes some sense and I need some level headed ness about me.

Will test again in 48 hours and see what happens.

Also, I only done the test just now and not fmu, was thinking with how late I am it wouldn't matter. But will do that next time.

Sh!t! I've also not been taking my vitamins and folic acid as often as I should be!!!! Argh!!

Can you tell I'm panicking.

Deep breaths.

@Drumstick1223 are you sure you are reading the test the right way round? If you're much further along (as you say you're 33 days late) the test line will be darker than the control line. I'll try to upload some photos

cherrypiepie · 25/02/2021 16:20

Congratulations!!

It would be classed as a pregnancy of unknown/uncertain gestation. (Not sure I'm correct wording it's been a while)

You are between 4-8 weeks pregnant. Book in with midwife now and give LMP as it was. Then you will have a 12 week dating scan. Just explain it all to them when you book in and this means that you don't have to pay for a private scan.

They will have seen this a million times before (maybe not a million).

Leesha94 · 25/02/2021 16:24

@somethingfunny I was thinking the same thing, looks like a dye stealer to me!!

Drumstick1223 · 25/02/2021 16:27

@somethingfunny .so... this is embarrassing.... I have no idea...

So is that darker line the pregnancy line and the lighter line the control line???

I actually can't believe I'm having to ask this. I must have done 20 tests with my daughter.

Confused.

Faint line, very late...?

Drumstick1223 · 25/02/2021 16:28

@cherrypiepie thank you, I think it's just the lingering doubt from my faint lines from the mmc before my daughter that is making me worry. I'd probably want to get an early scan to put my mind at rest x

Looks like a dye stealer to me!!!

Drumstick1223 · 25/02/2021 16:29

@Leesha94 ... dye stealer? So my pregnancy line has stole the dye from the control line, is that what you mean?

OP posts:
Drumstick1223 · 25/02/2021 16:30

@OnceUponAThread I'm only just hearing this term dye stealer

OP posts:
somethingfunny · 25/02/2021 16:31

@Drumstick1223 yep that's a very dark test line, congratulations!
Don't worry, easy mistake to make if you're just thinking about faint lines. I've tried and failed to upload a photo but I had a very similar looking test about 2 weeks after I first tested positive, so I'd say your dates based on your last period would probably be about right

OnceUponAThread · 25/02/2021 16:32

Yep. So a dye stealer is when your pregnancy line is so strong it steals dye from the control line. Usually happens from 4/5 weeks or later.

OnceUponAThread · 25/02/2021 16:33

Which would fit more with your last period. So I'd say you were thoroughly pregnant. Grin

Drumstick1223 · 25/02/2021 16:34

@somethingfunny OMG!!!! What an idiot, I can't believe I can't read a test haha.
Oh well thats definitely a dark line then, eh?

I'm in shock haha x

OP posts:
Drumstick1223 · 25/02/2021 16:37

@OnceUponAThread you learn something new every day. Also how to read a pregnancy test haha 🤦🏻‍♀️

That does sound about right then doesn't it.

Oh god now I need to break it to my partner. But 1 v 2 kids has been a bit of a sore point. I want two, he's happy with one. Oh well.

Can't believe I'm pregnant! 😁

OP posts:
User1511 · 25/02/2021 16:37

Haha yes you are further along after all. Dye stealer!
