Hello all, so I had my nexplanon implant removed on the 18th January, and strangely enough I got my AF 20mins before I left for my appointment, so before it was even removed (after having no periods while the rod was in my arm) and it lasted 3-4 days, but I haven't seen AF since then, and all HPT have been BFN, I wondered if anyone had any stories on how long it took them to conceive after nexplanon please and why I'm still waiting for AF and getting BFN's

Please respond Smile

It can often take your body time to get back to cycles after a hormone contraceptive. It varies a lot, I heard off ppl getting pregnant strait away, or having a few months of no cycle. My experience is from the pill and I had 14 months without a cycle after that.

I also had my nexplanon removed on 18th Jan! I had a bit of spotting for a few days after removal, then I ovulated on 4th Feb. Was excited I'd ovulated quite soon after removal, but then got my period on 11th Feb which was about a week earlier than expected, so I just think it might take a few cycles to settle down.

I've definitely seen others waiting a month or two before getting a period, or having a few long cycles shortly after having it removed. I know it's no help but I just think everyone is different and your body will adjust!

Yeah totally normal as pp has said. It will take a few months to regulate. Took me 9 months to conceive after coming off the implant. Good luck!

(TMI PICTURE) Thanks so much for all of your responses, I had this today, anyone know what it is? Start of my period or something else?

I got mine out 11th Jan and didn’t have proper AF until 5th feb. I don’t think it’s classed as a proper period when you have it in, it can take a few weeks. Also had withdrawal bleed which was spotting for a couple days when it first came out

Timetobeamummy · 25/02/2021 14:22

That type of discharge is usually old blood that has taken a while to pass. Sometimes can happen at beginning of your AF.

JellyTot30 · 25/02/2021 14:48

@Kty09 @Timetobeamummy thank you for the reply ladies, so should I not class the period I had on the 18th as a proper period then and just class today as my CD1?

@JellyTot30 I would wait and see what happens tomorrow as sometimes discharge can happen anytime of your cycle. Annoying I know has happened to me a few times. If it’s AF will probably be more regular tomorrow.

JellyTot30 · 25/02/2021 14:55

@Timetobeamummy thank you lovely, I will see how I go tomorrow Smile really praying it's AF as I want to get my body back to normal properly before we ttc properly

I was exactly the same really impatient! Gosh I knew about it when i did get AF for first time so bloated and cramps for first couple of days. Are you TTC your first?

JellyTot30 · 25/02/2021 17:32

@Kty09 it's so frustrating isn't it, but, AF has just made an appearance thank god, got the worst stomach and back pains 😭 I never got bad p pains before the implant but obvs where I haven't had one for so long it's so painful haha no I have a DD already, she's 6, so will be my second 😊
