Cycle getting shorter! Confused!

Evening all,

A bit of a panic question really as I have no idea what’s going on with my cycles! I’ve been TTC for ages now and have PCOS. Normally, in all this time, my cycles are pretty much bang on 35 days (long I know but fairly regular- well once I started keeping a record, I realised they were fairly regular)

So at 35 days I would always start spotting, have classic AF signs etc and then after a day or two of minor spotting, would have full flow.

Over the last 4 or so cycles, they’ve been getting shorter and shorter- 32, 33, 30 and now 28 days (I mean in terms of when I first see the telltale spotting)

What on Earth is going on? This is making me worry that my luteal phase is shortening Confused Is this something I need to be concerned about? Any ideas or experiences you can share?

I’m still waiting on Gynae to send me follow up so no idea what’s happening there!
Thank you to anyone who can offer some words of wisdom/support Flowers ❤️

Hi @WicketBasket
You should only count cycle day one from the start of your ‘full flow’, so including your spotting days will be make your cycle inaccurate.

I also spot, sometimes up to 7 days before my period is due, but learned to count my period only from when I’m bleeding properly.

I’ve read that even with the spotting, your luteal phase is still counted from between your ovulation day and day one of period, so spotting doesn’t necessarily mean your luteal is short. I’ve also read a lot of women who spot before their period still go onto to conceive with no problems so i would try not to worry about that either. It’s helped me relax about it for sure!

If you go back and adjust your cycle day one to spotting days, you’ll see a clearer pattern of your cycle.

Hope that helps!
