False BFP?

Hi all!
My partner and I have been trying to conceive since Nov 19'. In Feb '20 I had a MMC and we carried on trying straight away with a couple of months off in late summer due to potential clashes this year.

Anyway last week I had CD21 bloods done by the GP to be referred to fertility clinic. They were done on CD21 but were 2 days late due to me having shorter cycles than the typical 28 days.

My progesterone came back at 27.5, which is lower than the desired 30, but GP and I agreed that it was probably because bloods were taken a tad late.

My AF was due yday and hasn't shown up yet. Went to check my cervix and it felt a little high but really hard and closed which I'm not used to feeling so I took a test.

I'm just wondering if there's any chance it could be a false positive? Or should it be darker by now? Shouldn't my cervix be soft or progesterone be higher when my bloods were take or could it be that I hadn't implanted by then, so progesterone hadn't starting increasing again?

Think I'm just anxious after last time and over thinking things! Any reassurance or similar stories would be great!

I don’t know about your cervix or progesterone levels but given that your period is only one day late, that’s a really convincing positive on an cheap test strip Smile I would be very happy with that!

Misspacorabanne · 21/02/2021 17:43

That's a positive for sure!! Smile

Thanks @PrimeraVez @Misspacorabanne
I have a stash of FRERs so going to use one in the morning and hopefully have a good line.

BFP 😁 congratulations 🎉

ShalomToYouJackie · 21/02/2021 18:15

Those tests don't give false positives, that's definitely a positive!

These strip tests also seem to take FOREVER to get dark as the control line, mine was faint for over a week past my missed period. So don't worry about it not being dark.

Congratulations xx

Thank you 😊 @mumof23188

@ShalomToYouJackie Ooo that's good to know! Tbh I have none of the cheap tests left now anyway, just 3 FRER so I'm planning on one tomorrow, Wednesday and Friday.

I'll update my GP tomorrow too if I can get in touch with her 😂

Definitely positive.

Call the docs tomorrow and get some progesterone suppositories ASAP. Better to take them then not. Your mc might have been because of low progesterone.

My 7DPO bloods came back at 27.6 last cycle.

Good luck! Ps you’ve got some willpower I’d be peeing on the FRER tonight after a 4 hour hold!

33Carr · 21/02/2021 18:50

@Redpanda21 Yes! I was thinking of asking for the suppositories, I read somewhere that there's a cream also but don't know enough about either!

I've wasted sooooo many FRERs over the last 12 months that I'm adamant to wait it out haha!

That's a BFP OP! I know it's probably hard for you to accept (due to worry) with your history, but it is 🥰❤️
It's funny because the month I had bloods checked I also fell pregnant with my first and the month I became SO obsessed with checking my cervix and convinced myself I was out, I had my second bfp with my youngest ☺️
Good luck with your test in the morning ❤️❤️❤️

Redpanda21 · 21/02/2021 19:32

@33Carr I don’t think you can get the cream from the doctors, just suppositories or tablets. If the doc refuses, I would buy the cream.

I’m a serial early tester, got my BFP at 9dpo which was my mmc pregnancy. Even now I’ll test from 8dpo despite really wanting to wait!

33Carr · 21/02/2021 20:08

@november90 ahhh that's lovely! The GP did say that so many women get back in touch after being referred to fertility clinic to say that they've fallen pregnant in the mean time!

I'll be sure to update in the morning either way, even if no one is bothered, I need some sort of an outlet haha!

@Redpanda21 I'm sorry to hear you've also had a MMC 💕 tbf I normally would have tested before today, normally test 12DPO but I was adamant that this wasn't our month!
Wishing you all the best on your journey!
