BFP with first response test but...

Hi all,
I’m 10 DPO and got an obvious positive with a first response test with FMU today. Not as dark as the control but clearly 2 lines... but then I tested later in The day with a cheap internet ‘one step’ early test that is supposed to test down to 10ml (the first response test down to 6ml) and that one was definitely negative - not even a sniff of a line. Now I’m panicking the FR test was false negative?? Can FMU make that much difference ??

I know it’s early and I just have to wait and test tomorrow but that seems like an age away!!

Thanks XX

One-step are notorious for this OP, don't worry - google it and you'll see it takes wayyyy longer to get a line on a one step than a frer. Congratulations!

@Toastedsesame thanks so much for responding...

I’m 40 years old, so this is pretty much our final chance to complete our family with a last baby. I know chances of early miscarriage are very high at my age so I’m really trying not to get too excited!

I used the One Step tests that are supposedly 10mlu and got a very very faint line with FMU at 10-11dpo when the line was clear on FRER. I kept testing with the One Step because they were cheap to check line progression. About 16dpo I used another cheapie, Femometer brand I think, that said it was 25mlu just to see if I got a line on that when my lines were still very faint on the One Step - the 'less sensitive' cheapie ended up with a way darker line! So it made me think the One Step tests (I got mine on Amazon) are definitely not as sensitive as the claim to be!!

@RecordPlayer I think you might be right, I’ve been using the opks from one step and Femometer and the one step ones definitely don’t work as well. Time for a rubbish Amazon review I think!!

I do have a Femometer hcg test so I’ll try that tomorrow Smile

@Honey2 Yes definitely a strongly worded review, to warn others of nothing else!
Congratulations by the way! Fingers crossed all goes well x

@Honey2 Yes I use the one step OPKs sometimes and they are so faint! Its like they don't really use enough dye or something.

Good luck for tomorrows test.

I used an IC after a positive FRER and had the same, absolutely nothing. Used exactly the same urine with CB digital ... I don’t rate the IC at all, don’t fret. X
