i got my first bfp on a first response opk on monday, since then i have been temping and using opks every other day. i thought i had ov'd yesterday/in the night because my temp rose sharply up to 36.5 b ut im still getting bfps on an opk.

this is my first month doing all this (i normally just check cm and bd from CD12-18. i am on CD18 now (last month i ovd on CD22)

Are they digital ones because the ones with the lines can be harder to read as it can be hard to judge if the colurs are of equal strength. I would say there is no harm in carrying on bd'ng. Also you need to have three temps to be higher to prove your temp has really gone up and is not a blip. GOOD LUCK.

lissietothosefireworks · 03/11/2007 16:49

no, they are the normal ones, just a bit worried because since my last mc my lp has been about 7d, so i got all excited thinking it has sorted itself out and now this has thrown me. i did have ov-type pains yesterday tho!

well, temp has dropped again so looks like it'll be another short lp. although i can never get an accurate reading. ds gets up a few times in the night!

lissie are you getting the second line as strong as or darker than the test line? And have you had this more than two days in a row?
If so, then you have an excess of LH. This would indicate a hormonal imbalance, do you have PCOS? If you're getting loads of positives then the OPKs aren't going to tell you when you've ovulated...you'd be better off sticking with temp charting and checking for EWCM.

Your temp should rise sharply and you should have three temp rises in a row. The day of the first rise is the day after ovulation, this should also coincide with the EWCM stopping quite abruptly.

If you're just getting a faint second line, then this isn't a BFP this just indicates you have a small amount lf LH in your body, which is always present. It's the surge that brings on ov.

HTH!

the second line is as dark as the first. ive had loads of ewcm over the last couple of days but no real temp rise (apart from my inaccurate reading) never been diagnosed with PCOS, and nothing was spotted on my HSG in june

Well you sound like you're in a fertile phase. Loads of EWCM is great. But I've heard that 5 days is usually the maximum that you can get it, keep bd-ing till it disappears! Then come join us on the 2ww thread!!

digitalgirl · 04/11/2007 11:22

oh - and ignore the sticks...if they're not doing what they're supposed to then they'll only stress you out.

lissietothosefireworks · 04/11/2007 11:30

thanks, im a bit worried now that i havent had my peak- sounds like another ridiculously short lp for me then

lissie you can get ov cramps and other AF-like symptoms when you're about to ov. Before I ov I get really sensitive sore nips as well as mild cramps and can also get quite irritable. It's all to do with the hormones.

Then after ov, I notice that symptoms change and the cramps become much more AF-like. I can only guess that I can 'feel' the lining getting thicker and fuller. Does this sound familiar to you?

Try to find something to distract you from wondering whether you've ov'ed or not. I know from experience that a positive opk and patchy EWCM doesn't necessarily mean you've released an egg. If you're EWCM has definitely stopped and your cervix is lower and hard and you'ev got a rise in your temps, then it's most likely you have ovulated. Don't worry about the cramps...just attribute them to your body changing hormones etc and accept them as natural. It'll be much easier to get through the 2ww if you can ignore the 'symptoms' for the first week. V difficult, I know - but maybe try and book a massage or a facial. Something to relax you and make you feel better.
