Hi all!
I’ve been browsing the threads here, and wondered if there was anyone in a similar position to me - we’re not ttc until May as were getting married in September and don’t want to be more than 3/4 months along at the wedding, but as I’m sure you all know it’s hard not to start obsessing as we’ve been counting down the months!

I thought it might be nice to get chatting with others at a similar stage, maybe compare notes on preconception preparations and worries, and just generally have some friends on here ready for the looming TWWs and line spotting Smile

I’m nearly 36 and my soon to be DH is 47, so definitely hoping to get as many factors in our favour as we can this late in the game - but you start googling this stuff and there’s just so much on supplements (the good and the bad!) and diets and dos and don'ts that it’s a little daunting anyone else find that? Confused The one thing I have been doing is tracking bbt since October, and it took a bit of getting used to, remembering to temp first thing and always at the same time, but I’m starting to feel confident that at the very least I’ve got a good handle on what’s a normal cycle for me as regards ov and what-not Smile

Anyways, that’s enough of me for now - keen to hear others’ stories Grin

Hello,
May is the magic month for us too to try for first baby. I'm 32 in May, husband is 34. Been looking forward to this time that I'm in right now for a couple of years, can't believe it's here! Came off the pill in December after 14 years! Plan was to start prepping body for trying. My first cycle was 43 days, had my first natural period at the end of January. Was really relieved that if came back so soon as heard stories of it taking a while to return, be great if this second cycle returns and is shorter. Time should help me established my cycle and understand it more. I'm tracking via the health app on iPhone and also using Maya.

I started on the folic acid and vitamin D in December. Trying at the moment to increase exercise as pretty much only go for walks since gyms closed so last three weeks I've done a hiit session once a week- trying to do more. Focusing on trying to eat as much nutritious food- although yesterday was a right off!

Our approach to TTC will be relaxed, of course would love to fall in the May though 🙏 I know what you mean about the obsessing! Not on contraception now so could happen before and we have both said if that happens then it does! But I would be eligible for some Mat pay if happened May onwards and I wanted to prep my body as much as I could/ give it a breather for a few months first too!
Hoping by May i will be aware of when I ovulate and can try to DTD around that time.

What sort of things are you doing to prep? X

Hi D Smile

Great to hear from you! Sounds like you’re ahead of me in the prep department already, but if you’re completely off contraception that makes sense - we’re still using condoms for now as the wedding’s stressful enough to plan this year without adding my dress not fitting due to bump! Grin I figure by four months max I should still fit in it so May it is!

I’m looking at starting folic acid this weekend, and possibly looking at prenatal bits too, been researching them a bit. I take Vit D daily anyway as my body’s not very good at keeping my level right, but I’m speaking to the GP next week to see if I should increase it, and also to discuss coming off another medication I’m on that’s not great for pregnancy.

I’ve started trying to do some keep-fit vids on Prime Video, but it’s quite hard to get motivated when the sofa’s right next to you Grin as much as I’m all for caution, I’m definitely looking forward to gyms reopening! I’ve decided this weekend is my last treats weekend until my birthday, and I’ve got a healthy diet plan all worked out including home-roasted hazelnuts as a swap-in to keep me away from the sugary snacks!

Are you planning to track bbt? I was surprised how accurate it was for judging my cycle - hope yours settles nice and quickly for you Smile I can’t remember how long mine took, it’s been about ten years since I stopped the pill (didn’t get on with it).

Hello,
Aww sounds like you are really well organised re your healthy eating and exercise plan. When the gyms open I will be going back, I also love to play tennis so hopefully that will return soon too. All hinging on Mondays announcement isn't it... fingers crossed.
Are you planning to cut out alcohol at all? For me at the moment I enjoy a few drinks over the weekend, nothing too heavy at the moment as not been having socials. Everything you read says to, it makes all the sense. For now I'll continue to enjoy a tipple here and there and when it gets to May if I have an idea of my cycle I'll avoid around ovulation until start of next cycle I think..
Ours will start relaxed but that's easier said than done for a woman isn't it! I've not looked into the temp checking.. great recommendation and I'll do some research.
Great that your cycle is settled and hasn't been interrupted by the pill. Eagerly awaiting what happens this time around. Be great if the cycle is shorter but if not the same again so that I can establish a routine.. but must remind myself I have given my body this time to sort it's self out for this exact reason..
