Does anybody experience this? Any ideas what causes it? Progesterone levels are okay.

I have this every month. The fertility doctor seemed to think it was related to not ovulating and also endometriosis. I was put on clomid and still had spotting but it didn't stop me getting a bfp!

StarL2021 · 17/02/2021 15:43

Thank you! So frustrating at least no issues Ttc. X

Yes I get spotting anywhere from 2-5 days before AF every cycle and it's so frustrating. I have managed to get 2 BFPs while TTC (both of which ended in chemicals sadly) so BFPs are still possible 🤞 although both times I never had the spotting those months.

StarL2021 · 17/02/2021 16:47

2020onamission - I used to spot 4 days before my period before I had my son and the months I got bfp I had no spotting at all too. Sorry about your chemicals. I'm just worried as I literally spot 2 days after ovulation up until my period starts x

I had spotting before my periods as well. Started day 9 or 10 was so disheartening as didn't even get a 2ww and I worried about it so much. I got pregnant month 14 and I'm now 28 weeks. I didn't get any spotting that month apart from a tiny bit on wiping the day AF was due. I have heard others did spot the months of their positive tests though so doesn't count you out. I had 4 acupuncture sessions the month I conceived not sure if that made a difference. I also had a fertility referral and mentioned my spotting. Consultant said it could be sign of a polyp but never got investigated as turns out I was pregnant already. Best of luck to you xx

I have this too, can't help explain it or offer any advice I'm afraid. I can start spotting up to a week before my period. Its a sure sign AF is on its way for me unfortunately. I have very light periods that barely last two days which is a worry. I'd love to get to the bottom of the spotting as I don't see how the lining can ever be good enough with such light periods. Maybe tmi but do others that have it have light periods too?
Cycle 15 for me 😔

2020mission · 17/02/2021 18:51

@Louise241989 I'd say I probably pass equivalent of 2 tbsps roughly... is that light? They still last 4-5 days but only about 2 of proper bleeding, the other days are panty liner only. I remember it being heavier years ago though so mines have got at least a bit lighter. I hate when spotting kicks in as it basically tells me immediately that I haven't got pregnant but I still have a number of days to wait until AF and by the second or third day I always seem to convince myself that maybe this time it's implantation and then feel even more gutted when AF shows 😑

StarL2021 · 17/02/2021 18:55

@Louise241989 I have awful periods I'm actually having a hysteroscopy next week as I bleed so much. Literally clots the size of golf balls about 8 a day sometimes it has made me anaemic. Us women have all these worries don't we x

@2020mission yup it's definite for me that I'm out. It's a bummer though as I have no 2ww it's 2 days Grin. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing?

Louise241989 · 17/02/2021 22:05

@2020mission I'm exactly the same with convincing myself it's a good sign, well I know full well it's game over. But still do the same every month!
@StarL2021 eekk the complete opposite as me, shows there is no logic to any of this! Hopefully the hysteroscopy is helpful 🤞

@Louise241989 I had a similar concern but no spotting. My periods suddenly got very light a few months ago, barely there tbh and this month was only 2 and a bit days. In that time I’ve been for a transvaginal ultrasound and they said my womb lining was fine so I guess it doesn’t impact it in the way we assume. I also read the lining can be absorbed back into the body, probably due to stress.

I had confirmed low progesterone but no spotting....no idea why any of these things happen really.

StarL2021 · 18/02/2021 06:36

@Louise241989 I had this before I had my son. Very light periods. I was worried too as I had the 5 days of spotting to go with it but I conceived after 8 months. Now they are the total opposite heavy long and longer spotting. Xx

Hi, I had spotting that would start around 11dpo and continue until around 14/15dpo when my period would arrive.

I wasn't TTC and mentioned it to my OB, simply because it was annoying. She did an ultrasound to look for polyps and she didn't see anything. She then prescribed Duphaston (progesterone) which I started talking around CD20 each month. This stopped the spotting completely.

FWIW... I fell (unexpectedly) pregnant after a few months of taking the progesterone and my OB said it had probably given the pregnancy a helping hand in getting started/sticking Grin

Louise241989 · 18/02/2021 11:48

@thislittlebird what you said about stress is really interesting, I have a very stressful job, made a lot worse in the past year by Covid. Food for thought about trying to relax more, but when I'm not stressed about work, I'm stressed about tcc! Can't win 😂
Unfortunately my gp won't discuss any of this with me as referred me to the hospitals infertility clinic, they have a 6-9 month backlog due to being closed last year so hence the googling!

thislittlebird · 18/02/2021 13:33

Yeah @Louise241989, I think stress has a lot to answer for in this process and I’m sure it’s that which has made my hormones go wonky.

6-9 months is so long! That’s crazy, and really frustrating. Mine was still sitting on the reception desk waiting to be put through last I checked Hmm
