When to do pregnancy test

Hi everyone I’m hoping for some advice.

Long story short, we’ve been TTC for nearly 10months. My cycles have been all over the place since coming off my pill, sometimes no periods, some very long cycles etc. This last cycle was the first cycle where I finally got a static smiley on my opk so I was thrilled! This came on CD20 though so I understand this is quite late within the cycle..? If my cycle was to be 28 days like it has been some months, I was due my period yesterday. But this would only be 8DPO... Would I be due my period yet if I only ovulated a week ago?

I can’t pluck up the courage to do a pregnancy test yet as I don’t know if it’s still too early. I’m so anxious it’ll be negative and then I’ll be worrying why I haven’t had a period!? Shall I test at the end of the week if AF still hasn’t arrived?

@MashaPotato my periods were all over the place when I first came off the pill as well. My understanding is that the stage before ovulation can change length each month but the stage after ovulation stays the same ( from when your AF is due) If you had positive OPK on CD20 I would suggest waiting till CD34 earliest to test as I would think it would be around then that AF would be due 😊 fingers crossed it doesn't arrive for you and you get a positive test! Hope that makes sense above!Xx

Yes that’s what I was thinking too.. I’m thinking that would explain why I’ve had some longer cycles previously (maybe I had ovulated afterall but later in the cycle than I was expecting it, so missed it on my opk’s!)

This waiting is going to drive me crazy 😆 every time I go to the loo I’m terrified I’ll see my period! I guess only time will tell. Thank you again! Xx

I know the waiting is absolutely awful!!! Will it be your first? Nothing stopping you from testing if you wanted to but the only issue if it's negative it doesn't give you the certainty - I was like that when trying for my first- I would think oh I'll test and then when negative just kept thinking oh I might not be out yet 🤣

It would be our second if it happens! Somehow I was really patient waiting to test for our first, I think because I had perfect 28day cycles so as soon as it didn’t start I just knew! I’m going to try and be patient and wait until Friday to test.. I’m really not confident though 😖 I’ll let you know either way! Xx

How old is your first? We have agreed to start trying for our 2nd soon so starting to track again and the healthy eating🤣 Even though I doubt we will conceive straight away we will start End March as we have a holiday booked in October so need to be able to fly still! Yes let me know😊 Good luck! X

DD was 2 a couple of months ago. We were hoping for a 2 year age gap but it’s taking longer than we’d thought! Hopefully won’t be much more than 3 years, but if it happens at all we’ll be thrilled! How old is your first? Xx

Ah yes that's a lovely age gap- a 3 year gap means DD1 will be at nursery or nearly at nursery by the time no. 2 comes along. DD is 9.5months- we have always wanted small gap as hubby has a really big gap between his brother and him and has never liked it. Good luck! Xx
