Hi all
I am so confused by my chart/tests this month and hoping someone can offer insight?
My temping says I ovulated yesterday, however I took 5 LH tests through the day yesterday, all came back negative 🙃

I'm now anxious because we chose not to DTD yesterday (tired and negative LH tests) so worried I missed the window and confused by what is happening!

What were your opks like before yesterday? Most people peak 1-2 days before ovulation so I wouldn't expect for you to have a caught a peak reading the same day as your ovulation.

purplepoppet92 · 16/02/2021 08:01

@Juno231 oh you're joking! I didn't test before yesterday as I wasn't expecting to ovulate for a few days
Will DTD tonight and hope for the best.

Good to know about the tests! Thank you x

Ah yes that will be it, you've missed your surge! For what it's worth, ovulation is only confirmed once you have three high temps so this could still be a false alarm?

purplepoppet92 · 16/02/2021 16:37

@Juno231 oh really? I am so new to this!!
Would you mind looking at my last month's charts then? I didn't get 3 highs, and am quite worried about whether I I am actually ovulating since my MMC in Dec

Thank you so much!!

@purplepoppet92 don't worry - it looks good! You have a dip on the second day but some ladies get it and it's called a "fallback rise". You then definitely have a temp rise with consistent levels over the cover line.

If you feel you're struggling with the femometer chart I do recommend fertility friend. It looks proper old school but is by far the easiest chart to detect patterns with and I find their algorithm to detect ovulation is more reliable than femometer (I use both).

purplepoppet92 · 16/02/2021 16:50

@Juno231Thank you so much! I really do appreciate it - despite researching I just cant get my head around this. I will DTD this week as though I am just approaching my peak week.
I have FF which says that I am not due to ovulate until the end of the week, but then Fermometer and the massive rise threw me spinning!

Thanks so much once again!x

@Juno231 just thought I would share (you may not be interest but I'm excited!) that I've just done another LH test and I've gotten a faint positive so I'd imagine it will get stronger through the evening. 😊
Thanks again for your advice and support, it really has helped!

What a roller coaster conceiving is!! Speaking with friend about it who has two children, and she conceived both of hers accidentally so she's shocked at what we go through!

Hi OP, there is no such thing as a faint positive on an OPK, both lines have to be the same colour or the test line darker than the control to be positive I'm afraid.

I'd also recommend FF, it is so much better.

purplepoppet92 · 16/02/2021 19:31

@Meme69 I have heard that, although I am hoping it means there is a level of hormone in my system and it will peak soon, if that makes sense!

Juno231 · 16/02/2021 19:31

@purplepoppet92 what did your temp do today btw? A faint line on an opk could mean anything tbh as LH varies throughout your cycle.

If you ovulated at CD15 last cycle though I think it's wise to carry on testing for a few more days just in case though :)

And I know what you mean - all my friends got pregnant first or second try without having to use apps, ovulation sticks or anything. It's mind boggling how little of the details of ttc they know 😅

purplepoppet92 · 17/02/2021 07:59

@Juno231 I will attach my chart from this morning- it dropped but stayed at what I am assuming will be the cover line, and I also got a darker LH test this morning Smile

@purplepoppet92 just be careful not to log anything as a positive OPK unless it's actually as dark as the control line or darker. Otherwise FF will take it into account when calculating ovulation day :) I'm intrigued to see tomorrow's temp to see if it did indeed happen on CD13!

purplepoppet92 · 17/02/2021 09:58

@Juno231 did as you said and just removed the OPK log and I got a positive ovulation for 15th!
Do you know why I'd be seeing lines of the LH strips if I've ovulated already?

Thanks so much for this

Whoops! Forgot to add chart

@purplepoppet92 2nd lines on OPKs come and go, they mean nothing. It's only positive if the test line is as dark as the control.

Juno231 · 17/02/2021 11:29

Agreed with Stabal and I wrote that last night as well - LH fluctuates throughout the cycle.

I say carry on DTD every other day though as I'm concerned you may yet to ovulate if you're still having fertile mucus. That should have dried up after ovulation. So carry on testing for a few more days just in case?

purplepoppet92 · 17/02/2021 13:29

Thank you all!! Sorry Juno I did miss your comment re LH fluctuation.
Okay I will continue to test for the next few days and DTD for a few more days also.
Let's see eh?!
Support is really appreciated, normally I'm switched on but seem to have crumbled when it comes to conceiving!

@purplepoppet92 don't worry, it's so confusing at first. Took me a quite a few cycles to puzzle all the pieces together. Sadly I'm here 15 cycles on but it means I can help other ladies with their BBT charts at least!

purplepoppet92 · 17/02/2021 17:08

@Juno231 wishing you your BFP soon xxx

@purplepoppet92 how did your temp look today?

purplepoppet92 · 18/02/2021 11:03

@Juno231 temp dropped this morning. So FF is saying I ovulated Sunday and Fermometer is saying Tuesday?

So hard to know!!

I'd go with Sunday over Tuesday. Tuesday makes little to no sense imo.
Best of luck with the TWW though - I'll make sure to check in on you :)

purplepoppet92 · 18/02/2021 11:36

Thank you so so much! Not holding out much hope but we shall see!! Best of luck to you too! I will report back, and be sure to let me know if you get any positive news! Xx
