Alternatives to ovusense

I struggle to temp using a thermometer in the morning so looked into ovusense but was really turned off by the fact you have to pay £25 a month just to get your data! Has anyone used anything else that works well and doesn't come with this hefty monthly price tag? I don't mind paying for the device itself but an ongoing fee is too much.

I have never tracked temp, would you consider OPKs? I've always used those and found them very accurate.

Hey! I use the Femometer which I got from Amazon last March as we needed a thermometer and normal ones were out of stock everywhere! There's an app you can use with it which connects through Bluetooth. I've only just started TTC this cycle but have been temping on and off for a couple of months just to get used to it. Works well for me. I think it was roughly £30.

Sorry just read your message properly and saw you don't want to use a thermometer 🤦🏻‍♀️ ignore me lol, sorry I'm not sure how Ovusense works! X

I don’t think Ava has a monthly subscription but if you can’t temp in the morning, you might have similar issues with Ava. Are your temping issues because you don’t sleep long enough? Because I think Ava really struggles with people who don’t sleep continuously. It also has a hefty fee to buy it.

Another option is Tempdrop which is marketed at breast feeding mothers. Again, I can’t see a monthly subscription and it’s cheaper than Ava.

I’ve not used either but I am tempted by tempdrop, just put off by the price tag.

Yes, I'm breastfeeding so sleep is too disturbed plus when I wake in the morning it's normally because my daughter has woken me and wants something so I don't have time to temp before dealing with her.

I use ovulation sticks but would like some way to confirm ovulation as well. I don't always catch it with the sticks.

I have OvuSense and don’t pay a monthly fee??

I paid £160 upfront for the device and a 12 month subscription. But once that was paid there’s nothing more.

I fell pregnant on cycle 2 of using it, unfortunately mc that one, but then fell pregnant again cycle 4 and am currently 8 weeks pregnant.

It was the best money I spent during my ttc journey!

I could never have temped the normal way. This gave me 100% peace of mind that the temps were accurate and took all the stress out of it.

Moominmiss · 14/02/2021 11:14

I also couldn’t temp the regular way as I wake regularly through the night and like to sleep with a window open, legs outside the covers etc, both of which impact normal temping.

But OvuSense it SO easy. I just popped it in at night when I was going to sleep and then take it out when I get up in the mornings and sync it to my phone. It doesn’t matter how many times you wake for during the night as it takes your core body temp reading every 3 minutes throughout the night.

I have an Ava bracelet and really like it. I am only on cycle 1, but I like that I can wake up and just sync the data to my phone rather than having to remember to take my temperature.
It is expensive, but I decided to buy it before we started TTC, instead of buying it 6 months in and wishing we’d had it from the start.
If you decide to go for an Ava, I have a discount code that I could send to you.

Redpanda21 · 14/02/2021 21:02

You can get discount codes for Ovusense.

Personally I love mine, I went for the pro package so my fertility nurse could see the details. I paid £218 for a years subscription with the monitor and wish I’d bought it when we first started trying. It’s so easy to use and definitely worth the investment.

ellenpartridge · 14/02/2021 22:01

I also paid upfront for ovusense so no subscription.

I am breastfeeding to sleep and all night and have invested in an Ava bracelet. I have up to 4 wake ups a night and it seems to cope fine. If I had known about the tempdrop I might have bought that instead.
Lots of Ava's on eBay and Facebook marketplace for about £100.
