Hi all! Hoping someone can shed some light on this for me. So yesterday, one week before my expected period, I woke up and went to the loo. When I wiped there was some brown blood. Not normal for me at all. I have a very regular 28 day cycle and not much hassle inbetween apart from ovulation pain around day 14. Thought it was odd and I felt heavy and sore in my lower abdomen so I took a pregnancy test. To my surprise it was positive. Fainter line but definitely positive, no need to squint. I was really sore all day yesterday, bad diarrhoea (sorry TMI) and brown blood every time I wiped. I did another test this morning just to be sure and it's negative! Another two tests (one digital and another pink dye) say negative. I'm not trying to conceive so relieved I suppose but can anyone shed any light on what's happened? I'm still sore today, my right hand side is especially sore, diarrhoea and brown blood when wiping. It's so strange. Have never experienced anything like it before. Any suggestions would be great thank you!

You poor thing. Maybe give your gp a ring and see what they say. Hope your tummy settles down and the pain eases.

Sounds like early miscarriage?

Is ectopic pregnancy possible?

Perhaps you should call 111 and get some advice?

Jeds55 · 09/02/2021 19:31

Yes, my first thought from your symptoms was possible ectopic. I would get it checked out

I think I'd still have a positive test though wouldn't I?

Maybe you were more pregnant than you thought- maybe your last period or two were "breakthrough" bleeds and that's why you got a clear, very early positive. I'd ring your GP so that you can be referred to your EPU for a scan to makes sure everything has cleared. I had bad diarrhoea when I miscarried too. Hope you're feeling ok!

I've tried to ring my go surgery today but no answer. We have bad snow so probably short staffed. If I'm still in pain tomorrow I'll try them again. I'm still in pain the now and a little more worried than I was!

I wondered this. I haven't had that in either of my pregnancies before but always a possibility. Definitely a phonecall to the gp tomorrow again then.

I am not a medical professional so I wouldn't want to venture a guess about the test.

I hope you get some answers from you GP tomorrow and are feeling better soon.

Dancingfairydreams · 09/02/2021 20:04

Please get it checked out, I didnt get a positive test but I was 8wks when my ectopic ruptured & nearly killed me. Please watch out for other symptoms

Myusernameisunique · 09/02/2021 20:05

I'll definitely ring the gp again tomorrow. I'm definitely more worried now.

I've had a hormonal blood test and no pregnancy detected. I'm still bleeding though bright red blood with clots and it's pretty heavy. Feel unwell, sore and extremely tired. I'm really worried but my gp doesn't seem too concerned. I have another telephone appointment on Wednesday so will see what they say then. I've never had a period that's came a whole week early, lasted more than 5 days, been this heavy or made me feel like this.

So still no further forward. I thought my bleeding had stopped Tuesday but back to red spotting off and on when I wipe and passing either clots or mucous now and then. GP booked me in for swabs and a smear next week but in the meantime does anyone have any other ideas? All my googling is terrifying me and I feel like there should be a more logical and less scary explanation to all of this. Is it possible for a blood test to be negative but for a pregnancy still to have occurred? My positive home test was on the Monday and bloods done on the Thursday which came back negative. It's such a mystery. Especially when I'm so regular and normal usually.
