Unrealistic expectations from TV

Lighthearted! Was just watching an episode of a TV series where the main character whips out a pregnancy test (good old Clearblue product placement), has a quick wee on it, looks at it and straight away there is a big strong line!

When I POAS I find it a faff - end up hovering in various positions and rummaging around down there to angle myself properly Grin (sorry if TMI!) There was no lying jt flat in the programme or agonising waiting for the line to appear....

Made me think of all the films/TV shows where a woman just throws up once in the morning and just knows she's pregnant!

No wonder my expectations have been cruelly dashed! Haha. No point to this really but anyone else noticed this?

Yes not to mention when you've held in a pee, have an excessive flow and get lots of splash back on your hand. They don't show you pissy hands 🤔

It's never dripping with urine on TV is it? Like it's so obvious they just dunked it in water enough to soak it!

Haha yes the pissy hands Grin yes as with everything it all looks very... neat on TV.

This is hilarious! They don't show her pissing in a pot, holding in the stick, waiting 5 minutes and analysing the faint line over and over.

I was watching Friends yesterday and Phoebe had just had the embryos implanted and she came home did a pregnancy test and got a strong positive. Don't think that's how IVF works?

When they find a test in the bin and it positive, even tho you shouldn't read it after 10 mins?

pixiedust21 · 08/02/2021 20:53

Haha oh yeah I forgot about the Friends examples!! So funny!!

My favourite thing on Friends is when Rachel is in labour and the doctor just casually tells her the baby is breech at the very last minute??? and that she just has to push a little harder and she does and then it's all fine?
