Miscarriage? Help?!

Hello

My period started on relatively normal cycle day so ruled out pregnancy. After bleeding now for 15 days, I started to think something cannot be right and this can't be a normal period.

I did an opk this morning (even though I'm still on my 'period') because I should ovulate around day 21 (long cycle) and I am on day 15. The opk was solid smiley on clear blue digital?!

I have seen people on here say they had a positive opk when they were pregnant so I went a bought a pregnancy test this morning and it is positive. I am pretty sure it is not a viable pregnancy as I have been bleeding for 15 days (although I would love it to be but there's no chance 😞). The line on the pregnancy test is quite dark though considering I would have probably been miscarrying for 15 days?

I don't really know what I'm asking for, advice? Similar experiences? What do I do now? Did anyone have a similar experience to this and have a viable pregnancy?

Hi there! Wow our bodies sure know how to mess with us! I'd definitely give your EPU or GP a call as I'm pretty sure continuous bleeding like that can be a sign of an ectopic - so it would be prudent to rule that out.

How much are you bleeding? Is it like proper AF or just spotting?

In case the level of darkness is relevant

@Juno231 it's like a proper af, non stop for 15 days 😖

@user00119922 wow that's a strong line! Def call EPU just to be on the safe side but it could also be nothing! Some ladies have little bleeds on the sac or polyps that show up but that aren't harmful - it's just best to rule out an ectopic as those can be quite dangerous otherwise. Give them a call this morning xx

@user00119922 it could be a miscarriage, it could be just bleeding but 15 days seems like a long time to bleed. I personally would contact your local EPU and ask to have your blood levels taken at least twice. I had an ectopic and one of my signs was bleeding like a period followed by positive tests.

user00119922 · 08/02/2021 09:37

Thanks everyone. I've spoken to GP, have an appointment with them at 2pm and they will refer me to EPU from there.

I'm gutted! I'm no stranger to miscarriages, have had 3. Really hoping it's not ectopic 😖 I don't have pain though? Would I be in pain if it were ectopic?

@user00119922 sorry to hear you've had so many losses. I've also had multiple miscarriages (6) and an ectopic so understand how gutting it is.

I didn't have any pain with my ectopic. My hCG levels didn't rise much beyond 500 and as a result I also avoided having surgery.

I have had a DD now and when I was pregnant with her, I bled heavily up until 17 weeks. But it wasn't consistent. What does your bleeding look like? The colour of bleeding can be different with an ectopic - it is often described as "prune juice" colour.

I'll keep my fingers tightly crossed that you get some answers soon and it isn't an ectopic.

user00119922 · 08/02/2021 09:46

@kirinm the bleeding started (15 days ago) as more of pinky streaks when I wiped. Then after 2 or 3 days got more 'period like' pink/red. It hasn't been heavy, just regular light/medium flow, but has been consistent so bleeding everyday not on and off. Probably been at its heaviest today and very red.

I just want someone to come on this thread and say 'oh I bled like a normal period for 15 days straight and went on to have a normal, healthy pregnancy'

Sorry nothing useful to add other than I hope your appointment goes ok

kirinm · 09/02/2021 10:48

How did your appointment go?

user00119922 · 09/02/2021 14:31

@kirinm Hi, well they couldn't see any sign of pregnancy on scan. Pregnancy test still positive. So it's either too early to see anything yet or an early miscarriage with hcg still not fully out of my system (which is the most likely option). Took bloods and will re take on Thursday to see what happens to hcg level.

Still bleeding day 16 😖

Oh sorry it wasn't better news. Let us know how you get on Thursday x

I hope you get some better news today @user00119922

user00119922 · 11/02/2021 19:12

@kirinm Thank you for your support. Unfortunately no news today. The hospital never rang me back on Tuesday after reviewing my bloods and to arrange appointment for today, so I rang them yesterday to ask what was going on. The woman said she wasn't sure what had happened but they hadn't reviewed my bloods yet so will get it done today (yesterday) and call me back. Never called me back 🤷‍♀️

Oh no! I would definitely chase it up. Are you still bleeding?

user00119922 · 12/02/2021 07:12

@kirinm I will have to call them today, difficult though because I'm busy working all day. Yes still bleeding x
