4 days of flashing smiles. Wednesday night DTD then today Thursday woke up done the purple test first morning wee, came back with a solid smile so DTD came home from work about 5 hours later. Opened a new test & now I have an empty circle. Have tested twice with the new test and both empty circle. Am I covered? Can it be that short? Do I DTD again today...minds runs wild lol xx

It should stay static on the screen for 48 hours? X

MDH0727 · 04/02/2021 18:51

One the first test it still has the smiley face. I had a brand new box with sticks and a test in, so I used those this afternoon but they are clear circles. I’m hoping I caught the peak & maybe it was very short?

You aren't meant to keep testing with cb once you have a peak. The first test on a new cb opk will always be empty circle as it's establishing a base line. If its still empty after that then you've had your peak. You will ovulate 36 to 48 hours after your peak so the static face stays there and you are meant to stop testing

Okay thank you. Do I still DTD for the next few days or will it be too late now?

Yep, what @Fifi1086 said. First test will always be empty circle on first use.

If it was peak this morning (static) then I’d DTD tomorrow if you have already done today. The peak detects your LH surge which can be anywhere between 12 and 36 hours before you actually ovulate so chances are you’ll ovulate tomorrow x

Thank you! Fingers crossed it’s worked xx

I’m a pain I know 🙈 so I’ve done a purple test again this morning first wee, it’s now got a flashing smiley. I’m so confused...
4 days flashing
Half a day static smiley
Half day blank circle
This morning flashing smiley again.
I wasn’t expecting to see a flashing smiley again, so now I’m confused. Can anyone help? Xx

I think as PP has said, once you get your static smiley you should stop testing.
There will still be the LH hormone in your body so that is what the opk is detecting.
What CD are you?
I think if you’re addicted to POAS you should switch to the internet cheapies as you can continue to test on those all cycle if you wish!

Amz6219 · 05/02/2021 08:57

Flashing is oestrogen increase - it can fluctuate through your cycle so I think you’ve already ovulated. It’s flashing up to peak and peak that are important then stop testing until next cycle x

MDH0727 · 05/02/2021 09:40

I’m just so worried and way over thinking all this 🤦‍♀️ I seen on another post about testing using just water, I tried it and got a flashing smiley with just water. So I’m going to stop now and just wait and see if it worked. Thank you all for ur reply’s xx

The cb opk won't be able to read it properly @MDH0727 , it resets after your peak as if it is a new cycle, you've already had your peak so that's when you stop testing until next cycle. The flashing smiley is because it's detecting oestrogen which is high before and after ovulation. I only know this because I've done exactly what you're doing now and drove myself mad so step away from the opks and relax for now 😊

After 2 days of flashing smileys this month I managed to drop my cb opk reader in the sink... now I've to start over again with a new reader and if I have missed that static smiley I'll be very annoyed 😂😂😂

MDH0727 · 05/02/2021 09:46

Thank you. It’s so annoying isn’t it and can take over. It’s all a learning curve and the first month I am using them, as haven’t had any luck with just the apps. I hope u haven’t missed it...good luck! I’m going to wait a few weeks to see if I come on, I would normally be due next weekend. X

Hi, as others said best not to keep testing after you've had your solid smiley.

It is a machine with a fairly basic system of capturing a baseline, producing a flashing image on contact with any liquid (designed to be urine obviously!) until it detects a peak in the hormones. The test will think that the water you put it in was urine, and comparing it to urine day before is saying "nope, not peaking yet". A £25 kit doesn't have the intelligence to say "hang on, this is water!"

You will save yourself a lot of confusion it you ditch using the sticks once you have had your solid smiley. If you must POAS, get some cheap OPK's to make sure they stay negative.

MDH0727 · 19/02/2021 12:16

@Fifi1086 thank you for sharing the baby dust...I’ve got positive pregnancy tests 😀 any luck with yours?

@MDH0727 that's amazing news congratulations!!! I ended up with 11 flashing smileys before my peak this month and ovulated cd20, I'm 6dpo at the min so a bit to go before I can test x
