Is it as soon as I start spotting (very light and only present on loo paper) or is it when its properly flowing??

My gp said it's when it starts flowing, I guess when it reaches the pad if you wear them.

I don't agree, I always counted from the first day I bled (however little) (but I am not a Dr!) I think if what you are calling spotting then leads to more bleeding with no gap then that counts as the start of the period.

Its all very annoying. I never used to "spot" I used to just get on with it!
