TTC and blood tests - what next?

Hoping some experienced TTCers could help a little! We’ve been ttc our first for around 8 months but only on cycle number 6. Came off the pill at the end of May and went back to fairly regular cycles quite quickly (39, 29, 30, 29, 36 days). But now nothing since the beginning of November! Currently on CD90 and starting to stress. I’ve been tracking my bbt and don’t think I’ve ovulated. (Also been doing tests every couple of weeks or so and am definitely not pregnant!)

Called my lovely doctor who has sent me for blood tests to check out my hormones but I’m not sure what to expect from the results. I think I was so relieved that she didn’t tell me to just wait because of Covid that I forgot to really ask any questions. The nurse took 4 vials of blood today. Im glad I’ve been able to do something other than wait around for my period to come but not sure how worried to be.

Any experience or words of wisdom would be really appreciated. All my friends with babies fell pregnant really quickly so feeling a bit lonely!

What cycle day are you? Do you know if they did cycle day 3 or 21 tests?

Day 3 are to check overall hormone levels. Eg FSH, LH, testosterone, prolactin, TSH (for thyroid problems), androgens etc.

Day 21 are to check your progesterone levels to see if you ovulate.

If there's something wrong with any of the results they'll refer you to a fertility clinic to get it sorted.

If there's nothing wrong they'll ask you to wait until the year mark (unless you're over 35?) before they give you a referral to a clinic for further investigations. Before you get the referral your OH will need to liaise with his GP to arrange for a semen analysis first.

Thanks @Juno231 Currently on CD 90 so goodness knows what my hormones are doing.

I think she’s checking my overall hormone levels (considering the amount of blood that was taken from me today!) and did mention some of the ones you’ve listed above. There are so many acronyms I’d forgotten some of them so thank you for listing a few. Hopefully the results will still be useful even though it’s significantly later than cd3!

I’m 32. Reassuring that we can be referred earlier if something isn’t quite right. I can’t take another 4 months of living in limbo. Good point about DH. Will talk to him about doing this a bit sooner too. Thanks so much for taking the time to reply
