Hi Ladies,
I’m trying for a baby with no luck.
I’ve stopped any form of contraception for over a year now so I thought this would be easier. Myself and my husband always been relaxed about it and if it happens it happens sort of thing but recently we discussed that we will try harder as we not been able to conceive. I use the health app on my iPhone and I register my periods there and gives me a possible fertile window for us to try but I’m starting to doubt this is accurate😢 we have one boy 7 and we are ready for our second. Can anyone share with me some tips on what else can I do to improve my chances of getting pregnant, I’m 34 and don’t want to run out of time to have my second child. Please help 🙏 x

Hi!

If you don't think the app is accurate - have you considered trying ovulation sticks to try and pinpoint ovulation?

How long are your cycles and when does the app think your fertile week starts?

SmidgenofaPigeon · 03/02/2021 10:50

You need ovulation sticks. My app never got it right, I was ovulating much earlier. I just had cheapie OPK sticks from Amazon, always got my peak around 7pm so would dtd every day for 3 days after that, once I learnt when it was in my cycle could make sure I covered the days before too. I never tried clearblue ones though would have done if hadn’t got a BFP last month.

My cycles are 26 days average. I've not used sticks before as don't know how to use them or what to look for. How many sticks do you need and how often to test on what days during your cycle?

What do you mean by peak? How do you find out when is your peak?

To be honest - a 26 day is pretty straight forward. I'd start doing the deed every other day from day 8/9 until day 19 and you'd be 100% covered then.

If you do want to go down the ovulation test route - it's probably easiest for you to start with clearblue as they're easier to use. Buy some now and read the instructions on when to start using them next cycle - it all depends on how long your cycle is.

Peak is with regards to your LH peak - it happens 12-36 hours before you ovulate so it gives you the heads up + a rough idea of when you ovulate so you don't miss it.

Get the clear blue digital sticks.

Thank you Juno231 I will purchase some ovulation sticks and try them out. Will update x

I agree with the other replies, get the ovulation sticks. A 26 day cycle doesn’t really tell you anything about when you ovulate, could be as good well as day 7 and if you’re not trying until day 9 you could easily be missing out on giving it the best chance!

Hi Ladies I done an ovulation test this morning and it shows a very faint line and one dark line would this be a positive or should I test later in the day to see if the line gets darker? Will I miss the opportunity if I only do the deed later when my husband gets home from work? Really don't want to miss my chances🙏 x

Hey @MariaM007 the dark like is the control line (it always appears dark and confirms the test is valid)... what you're looking for is the other line which you say is faint therefore it's likely not positive. A positive result is when this line is darker than the control line. I've dropped a pic that might help you.
What day are you in your cycle? If you're day 10 or further it certainly won't hurt to dtd tonight anyway in case you ovulate in the next couple days.

I'm on day 8 if is from the day of my last period or day 6 if it's after period has finished. Not sure which day to count from the line is similar from the first one of your picture. Thank you for sharing that photo with me so I know what to look out for. Do you know which day you start counting your cycle from is the first day if your period or the last day of your period? Thank you for all your help xx

Count from the first day 🙂.
Mine isn't the best example as it kind of 'peaks' out of nowhere, some people have dark lines for a couple days.
