Irregular cycles, help!

I'm monitoring my cycles at the moment as we will be TTC #2 this year..

My period returned 8 months ago after having baby #1 and my cycles vary from 23 days to 34 days. I'm worried, I used to be regular (32 days) and ovulated at the same time every month (according to temping and ovulation kits). This time round I've monitored two cycles with ovulation kits and my (apparent) ovulation day has been 7 days apart.

Is this normal after pregnancy? I'm 36 years old and beginning to panic!

Are you breastfeeding?

With breastfeeding it's normal to have irregular cycles.

I had a baby about 7 months ago and breastfeed for the first three months, then stopped

My period returned at 8 weeks and my cycles were pretty irregular at the beginning.

First cycle: 39 days
Second cycle: 32 days
Third cycle: 24 days
Fourth cycle: 28 days ( my normal cycle length before pregnancy)

So I wouldn't worry!

@hotpotlover I stopped breastfeeding officially 5 months ago but really it ended a few months before that. My period returned the month after I night weaned the baby and was only feeding at bedtime after that.

You're right maybe it is just down to the breastfeeding, I'm just shocked at how long it has taken for my cycles to return after the baby and also how irregular they still are.

I dont really want to TTC by having sex every other day of my entire cycle... I wish I had an idea of when would be the ideal time!
