Hey everyone Smile

I’m new here... after lurking around I thought I would make a post as everyone seems so much more supportive and friendly than some of the apps I use! We have been ttc for almost 2 years, I had a miscarriage last September which was just a horrible horrible experience, but I remember when I was pregnant I was getting positive OPKs....

Fast forward to today I’m 8DPO and had a blazing positive opk this morning, the control line came up before the test line. I’ve had it both ways where it’s meant pregnancy, but also hasn’t... this seems early for a pre AF positive though?! When I’ve had a pre AF strong opk it’s just been literally the day before and wasn’t positive it was just a dark line, I’m not due for another week. Yesterday it was dark, today even darker and positive, and I’ve just done another on less hold and it’s still positive.

Has anyone ever had this and gone on to get a BFP? I did take a HPT but it was negative... to be expected being just 8DPO. I know it doesn’t always mean much but thought others experiences might help me through this wait!! It’s killing me!

Thanks ladies xxx

I know you can get positives from OPKs detecting HCG, but wouldn't the HPT have also detected it? Was it a sensitive HPT?
The only other thing I can think of is maybe you didn't ovulate 8 days ago. Are you tracking BBT and you got a sustained rise? If you're just using OPKs maybe you got an LH surge but didn't ovulate.
I guess you have to wait another couple of days and do another HPT. In the meantime maybe DTD just IN CASE this is actually ovulation now?

It was a cheapie - but I have seen others who got negative hpts but positive opks and then later got a positive hpt (I know I’m most likely kidding myself that this is the case but it’s nice to have a bit of hope!!)

I definitely 100% ovulated as I track bbt where I use progesterone suppositories - so I have to make sure I have the sustained rise etc before I start using them, there’s no way I could be ovulating now as the progesterone prevents ovulation which is why it’s so important to make sure I already have before I start. My opks did go down to negative after ovulation happened but now have gone positive again, could just be a random thing though I know our bodies do strange things. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see! Probably be another month out but we shall see, it’s getting so draining now!

Hi Laura, Know this is an old thread but just wondered what the outcome for you was, I'm in the same situation! Thanks

Hey! Unfortunately it didn’t mean anything at all for me, wasn’t pregnant that time.

I did however get pregnant later that year received a positive in September and now have a 14 month old girl :-)

So either way keep going.. I’d actually been to an IVF consultation and then 2 days later received a positive test, I’d totally given up that month as I thought we were going down the IVF route, so probably only had intercourse once or twice and it wasn’t around the times I’d have usually ‘planned’ around OPK’s etc so maybe there’s something to be said about that too.

hope it means something for you though!!! Fingers crossed x

Thank you so much for responding! and congratulations on your little girl.

I think I'm actually ovulating late, cycle is all messed up following a mmc in July, so glad I kept testing with the OPKs. Just means I'm back in the TWW!
