Fertility MOT

Hi everyone, new on here! 😄. I’m 38 and decided to go and get a fertility MOT done to see where I’m at. I’ve had the scan done and they said my womb and womb lining all look really good. My right ovary was very visible and had around 6 follicles including the ‘dominant one’ however they had real trouble finding my left ovary. They did say it’s common for the left to hide. I could clearly see the right one and all of the follicles on the screen but the left one not at all. She did manage to find it but a split second later it was gone. Again, she said that’s common as it can hide but she said she saw 2 follicles. I know that’s low so I’m wondering if there’s a possibility that there’s more and she just couldn’t see them properly? They said to wait for the AMH blood test for a clearer result which I will do but I’m just impatient and partly worrying! Any advice or experiences welcome 😄

I had a fertility MOT too. I can't remember which ovary it was but they had trouble finding one of them because it was hidden by my bowel. At least they found yours, however briefly!

There could definitely be more if she couldn't see it properly. Your AMH and FSH results will help you get a better picture of the state of your ovaries. I think the number of follicles on each ovary is normally fairly balanced. I had 13 when I had my MOT - 6 on and 7 on the other. You could be similar.

How long have you been TTC? If the results are concerning then you've done the right thing as the doctor will be able to advise on next steps. Better to know there's a problem than not knowing until it's too late, even though it's hard finding out.

Same here @Lisa1111 I had a fertility MOT done a couple of years ago and was told my right ovary is stuck behind my uterus due to a fibroid and only 2 follicles were visible. I had another scan a week ago and about 9 follicles were visible so it's very likely that there are more follicles that just couldn't be seen.

As @kennetrose said follicles are generally balanced on each side but the results of your AMH will (hopefully) also confirm this.

Thank you @kennetrose & @ForeverHopeful17 that’s reassuring. I think I was just thrown off because it all started off so well and then it went downhill with the left ovary! I should get the AMH bloody test results on Wednesday so I guess all will be revealed. We haven’t been tttc yet, just wanted to make sure everything was ok due to my age before we look to start trying in spring / summer time 😀
