Clear blue digital ovulation test confusion

Hi everyone

I’ve been using cheapie ovulation tests since we started trying but this cycle thought i must be doing something wrong so got the clear blue one for a change. This one has 3 options low fertility, high and peak
On Thursday I had an LH surge on cheapie so did the CB one but it came up ‘not fertile’ we DTD anyway then on Friday I did the test again and it came up as peak fertility. Over the weekend we only managed to DTD on Sunday so I think I just missed the window. Is it possible that Thursday’s reading was wrong and I’m still in with a chance? Also is it normal to jump from 4pm Thursday to 1pm Friday from low fertility to peak?

Wishing everyone baby dust on their TTC journey Smile

I don't have much advise as only been using them the past 2 cycles (been TTC for 18 months almost now!)

My experience is I go from low/not fertile to peak fertility in the space of a day with no "flashing smiley" in between. We managed to DTD on second day of peak fertility this month and in TWW now

I don't give the normal opks much credence to be honest as I have never had a positive- I know I am ovulating as been checked over at clinic.

It's all a bit much sometimes!!!

@truetuesdays thanks for replying!

At least it’s not just me, I was so confused to not at least get a flashing smiley face.
I agree it’s definitely a bit much at times - I’ve also found it’s a real mood killer we both don’t want to DTD just because I’m ovulating but even if your not in the mood you feel you have to because there’s only about 3 days that feel like you have a real chance!
We’re on cycle 11 now and whilst trying to be very relaxed for the first 6 months now it’s getting on my nerves that we haven’t seen a BFP and ovulation is still a mindfield!

Fingers crossed for you for this cycle 🤞🏻 xx

Have you been testing every day from the cycle day indicates on the pack? You can’t just do them ad hoc as they detect the increase and the early readings give the baseline. At least that is my understanding.

Anothercycle · 25/01/2021 14:16

@Haiyaa thanks for that I didn’t realise I just thought each reading was individual. I had been doing cheapies from end of my period and then the CB from CD 12 - got low fertility for 2 days then a peak reading. If we don’t catch this cycle will do the CB ones earlier next cycle

@Anothercycle @Haiyaa is correct, you can't just take the CB ones when you have a peak on an IC. The first CB you do will always read low fertility because it takes this as its baseline level of oestrogen - that's why the instructions tell you to start doing them on a specific day of your cycle depending on cycle length. From this point the stock looks for a rise in oestrogen, ad when it detects enough of a rise you'll get a flashing smiley. You won't get your peak result (static smiley) until a surge inLH is also detected, abs you may get many days of high fertility before this happens if you've done the tests correctly. So yes, it's possible to go from low to peak jn a day with these tests if you started testing too late.

@SamoyedFan123 thanks - I’ve just reread over the insert and can see that I probably started testing a couple of days too late based on my cycle. Hopefully then on Thursday I was still at a high fertility so I’m not totally out of the running Smile

Hello everyone, am new here. Am trying to get pregnant again after I had a miscarriage on 4th of August and I saw my 1st period after miscarriage on 26 of September and having been trying to get pregnant again. I bought clearblue to track my ovulation and October I had my period on the 21st October finished on the 25th, have been using the clearblue ovulation to track it since 28th October but always have the cycle face only. Please any help please.

Hi @Sexy8307. Depending on the length of your cycle, you start testing on a specific day. Then test each morning with first wee. Eg. I have a 30-32 day cycle and start testing around CD10. I get flashing until CD17 when I usually get a static. If I have EWCM or feel like I’m ovulating soon, I test in the evening too to avoid missing it… however, when you get static, it could be up to 36 hours until you actually ovulate. If you had a MC (sending hugs) maybe your cycle is stabilising. Oh and also i usually get a few circle faces and then get flashing from CD13, before CD17 when I get a static. Keep testing, it will come! X
