Hi all,
TW!! - ASSULT

I’m really struggling working out my conception date.
I had a scan on the 11/01/2021 and they said I I was 7 weeks and 1 day, because of this my due date would be the 29/08/2021.

However I can’t remember the first date of my last period, I know I was either in the middle of my menstrual cycle or near the end on the 20th of November. But I can’t remember as I’m quite irregular.

Another note is from the 26-29th of November I was assaulted on these days. (I am in the middle of getting this worked on) because of this my heads all over the place with dates and worries.

I have another scan on the 27th to see what the private practice says again on my due date.

If anyone could please help me figure this out, it would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry to hear this, hope you are ok.

But I would say around 6th December for conception assuming 'average' ovulation on CD14 x

I’ve done all of the conception calculators online, are they accurate? Only because the due date is only estimated so that’s why I’m worried as if it’s wrong then that means the baby’s is the person that assaulted me..

Thank you so much for replying though, it’s really appreciated

Hi. Hope you are ok.

My due date changed at each scan I had - 7 weeks, 9 weeks and 12 weeks. The estimate the due date based on the size of the baby at that time and in my opinion they aren't an accurate indication of conception date as embryos can have growth spurts.

I think the only way to get an accurate conception date would be to know the first day of your last period, and to know what your usual cycle length is (average being 28 days I think).

Sorry that doesn't help.

shesyourlobster · 25/01/2021 11:24

Sorry I just read that you have an irregular cycle too. So it would be ever harder to tell, sorry.

RileyLou · 25/01/2021 11:26

My cycle averages normally 5 days long but I'm quite irregular so the cycle stays the same but when it starts it's most of the time different each month.

Is there a more accurate way of finding out the due dates and stuff?

Sorry, I didn't explain well. What I mean by cycle is how long from the first day of one period until the first day of the next period. The average is 28 days.

I think what you're saying is that your period is usually 5 days long but that doesn't matter for working out conception dates.

RileyLou · 25/01/2021 11:42

Ah okay, thank you.

Is there anyway to get a accurate date at all?

Hi OP, your dates are similar to mine so though sharing might help with your calculations. I'm due on the 27/08. My LMP was 20/11, I'm pretty sure I ovulated on 4/12 (based on ovulation tests only) which means my fertile window was 29/11 to 4/12. I haven't had a scan though so basing this on the nhs calculator.

I hope you're ok and best of luck.

shesyourlobster · 25/01/2021 12:05

There is literally no way to get an accurate date of conception. I'm really sorry that isn't what you want to hear.

Even if you knew when you ovulated, sperm can live inside you for approximately 5 days before fertilising an egg. So it's impossible to know which occasion would have resulted in the sperm that did the fertilising.

Sorry if my language isn't right here, I don't mean to cause any offence. And sorry again that this isn't what you wanted to hear.

Amz6219 · 25/01/2021 12:06

If you were middle/end of period around 20th November then CD1 would have been around 17/11/20, and if you had average ovulation (i.e. CD14) that would be ovulation probably around 1st December so obviously if you ovulated later it would have been conception later, but also sperm can last several days so if you ovulated 6th December which dating scan would suggest then it could have been from earlier that week

Could it potentially be someone else from around that time? If not, then it is looking likely I'm very sorry to say :( x
