TTC after c section

Is anyone TTC after having a previous c section? Were you advised to wait a certain amount of time by a doctor? My little boy had to be delivered by emergency c section at 28 weeks in December, he died 3 days later. Whilst we are so sad I do really want to start TTC again (life is too short and we don't know the journey ahead of us) but we've not yet asked or been given any medical advice. I'm almost too scared to ask at my 6 week check next week when the gp will ask about contraception. It will be my third pregnancy (first little boy born (and is now a happy healthy toddler!) by c section from failed induction in October 2018 so over 2 years between them).

Hi Op. So sorry for your loss. I went through the exact same. Had my ds 4 years ago and then lost my second ds at 23 weeks and had a cs. I had the CS in 2019 and was advised to wait for a while, at least a year. You need to heal properly.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your little boy. I can completely understand your feelings around wanting to TTC again and don't feel scared to talk about it.

After my c-section I was advised to wait for 18 months before trying again. There are of course risks to your scar with getting pregnant and these risks become greater with each c-section performed. That being said, plenty of women have got pregnant after a c-section much sooner than this without problems.

I do really think that under the circumstances you would be best to speak to somebody knowledgeable to weigh up the risks. Is there anybody at the hospital you could talk to, almost a debrief about what happened in your last pregnancy and birth and about your options going forward?

Thanks
