Ovulation, then AF one week later?!

Hi, this picture of my ovulation sticks was taken at the weekend. The one with the darkest line was Wednesday last week, so I thought this is when I ovulated. Today (Wednesday) AF arrived. I’m so confused, I didn’t think it was possible to ovulate and period arrive a week later. Thought it takes 2 weeks. Any advice? Thanks x

It's hard to tell whether the darkest test line in the photo is as dark as the control line. If it isn't, that probably wasn't ovulation. I have LH surges after ovulation that are almost as dark as the control line! If it is as dark then I think it's possible to get AF that soon but would mean you have quite a short luteul phase.

It doesn’t look as if you’ve had a positive to me yet. How long has your cycle been?

Is it definitely your period? Don’t rule out implantation bleeding which can happen just over a week after ovulation. Or you can have ovulation bleeding.

Hey @laurini thanks for your reply. Even in real life it was hard to tell!!
My last period started 28th December and I took the first ovulation test on weds 6th January, so on CD9. Maybe I will start the ovulation sticks even earlier this month and see if ovulation occurs really early

Hi @SnowFields thanks for taking the time to reply 😃 I’m new to all of this so really appreciate it. My cycle started 28th December so it’s been 24 days. Pretty sure what’s started tonight is AF, although I wish it was ovulation bleeding, but I have all the Pms feelings.
Done an ovulation test the last 2 days and barely a second line, so I guess that must have been my (short) peak

If you ovulate earlier than CD9 and have a long LP you need to see your GP to rule out things like PCOS.

@SnowFields I am now under the hospital, as I have a septate uterus. Due to have another appointment soon but not sure it will go ahead due to Covid. I will mention that though and see what they think

I wouldn’t have thought that would have impacted your ability to conceive although it could cause early miscarriages which could then throw out your next cycle.

I would test with the ovulation sticks from day one (I used to use them several times a day) and continue until you get your period. Do so for a few cycles and you should start to see a pattern emerge. Do you take your BBT?

@SnowFields that’s a good idea, I will start tracking ovulation from tomorrow.
No I haven’t tracked that, think I’ll do one more month of ovulation sticks then look into that 😃 thanks for all your useful advice x
