Hi

This is my first month using ovulation sticks. I had a missed miscarriage in august & been trying since October with no luck, so wanted to give these a go to see when I ovulate.
Compared to photos I’ve seen online, my sticks seem to show nothing, then just one positive day. Is this normal?
Thanks

Yep looks normal, you'll only get one or two days of positive and that is your peak. Ovulation will then happen 12-36 hrs later. To help you read them I recommend using the Femometer app, it takes a picture and then allocates a %, it also lets you know when you're in your peak.

I'm like this too @MsK89 and I definitely ovulate because I conceived back in Sept (MMC unfortunately). When I get stronger lines, I use multiple cheap OPKs a day as otherwise I always miss a true positive (when the test line is as strong as the control or stronger)

@ButterscotchBabe thank you for your reply & thanks for the app recommendation. I’m on my 2 week wait now, but will definitely download that i get a negative pregnancy test

@TheDaydreamBelievers I’m sorry for your miscarriage in September 💔 these were really cheap sticks, I may consider using more than 1 a day then! I felt like such a newbie using them this month, but I did use them the same time each day. Going to carry on for another week til my period arrives, just to check I did get the right ovulation day

Sorry to hop on your thread. First month of using OPK. I see lots of people keeping the tests and comparing them at later dates, is there any reason for this? I thought they had to be read within the time frame.

MsK89 · 17/01/2021 14:20

I have no idea @PP202 this is my first month using them, so wanted to just lay them all out to look at the lines and try understand my cycle. My Oct-nov cycle was 25 days but nov-dec was 36 days so I have zero idea when I actually ovulate! My periods used to be SO regular until I had a miscarriage last august x

Back to just one line today, I can’t work out why I only had 2 strong lines once this whole cycle, whereas other people seem to have a few days of dark lines then one REALLY dark line, so they know their peak. What’s wrong with me 😭

Nothing is wrong with you OP. I had a few months like this too! I was convinced the cheap sticks weren't working. However this month, I got super strong lines on CD17 and felt ovulation pain the next day with a strong positive in the morning and then by evening it was negative. Saying all that, I was literally testing about 3/4 times a day. Basically everytime I went for a wee. It could be that you are missing the surge maybe. Try and test more often, that's what worked for me.
