Post Pill Party - The Mosh Pit !!

Kay00 · 16/01/2021 20:33

As the Post Pill Party fills up, the lights are dimmed and the music drops a beat. The lead singer of this rambunctious band shouts: Mosh Pit!! The ravers all storm for the small space in front of the stage allowing their bodies to dance to the beat however the f* they want!! You go ladies!!

This is the 7th post pill party thread for women whose bodies aren’t quite dancing to the expected rhythm: we have delayed ovulation, crazy long follicular phases, crazy short follicular phases, light AFs, short luteal phases, long luteal phases, confusing temp charts and blindingly white OPKs!

In the crowd I can see:

@TheDaydreamBelievers I'm into my third month of normal cycles now (took approx 6 months of weirdness post pill) and have 30 day cycle, ovulated day 17/18 for last three months. What are you seeing for O?

TheDaydreamBelievers · 03/02/2021 09:26

@Gracie2021 this is my first cycle after MMC so I have nooo idea!

Came off pill end of March 2020
Cycle 1 - 141 days, no ovulation detected
Cycle 2 - CD33 ovulated, BFP at 11DPO
MMC detected at 12 weeks
Surgery Nov 2020
Ovulated 8 weeks later, AF a week after that.
So now cycle 1 after, CD12

Sounds like I still have a week or so before no ovulation would mean a long cycle! That's good.

Juno231 · 03/02/2021 09:33

@TheDaydreamBelievers I seem to ovulate between CD14-16 the most and then have a 12 day LP.

@LauraT94 wait I thought we were still waiting for your HCG to go down? Or have I gotten all confuzzled

@crabette haha I read your post where you said you weren't gonna test today directly followed by you testing and it made me laugh. Congratulations!!! Do you just feel gobsmacked/incredulous? Have you told OH? Please can we have a TTC and symptom recap Grin

@Gracie2021 @MissC07 I had mine confirmed today too! My AF will be due on the 13th in that case - please stop me from testing until then!

@Kay00 has fodmap made a difference to your inflammation already?

LauraT94 · 03/02/2021 09:43

@Juno231 no you're not confuzzled, I'm just mental and impatient 😂 basically I've just read everything there ever was about ovulation post-miscarriage on the internet 😂 and there's so much variation! Some people ovulate without getting negatives, some people say you won't Ovulate until you get to 5mIU HCG.... 🤷🏼‍♀️ So I've been just going off my symptoms and feeling like I must be gearing up to ovulate! These are my pregnancy tests at the mo, including negative FRER although I did do it in the evening! And my increased temp this morning.

I'm basically just driving myself mad waiting for something to happen! Haven't done an OPK yet this morning but I'm not expecting anything exciting now 🙄

Juno231 · 03/02/2021 09:51

@LauraT94 aah gotcha - I can see why you're getting excited/impatient then. Fingers crossed it does happen and that you don't have to wait until the HCG has gone down completely.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 03/02/2021 09:52

@LauraT94 I feel ya. I feel like between the super long cycles and the MMC I have done a LOT of waiting around during my TTC journey. Then again, don't we all - wait for ovulation then wait for AF!

@Juno231 thank you for your help :-) I will keep my fingers crossed for something to happen soon!

Tillybabs · 03/02/2021 09:55

@TheDaydreamBelievers I ovulate around CD 16

Robyn101 · 03/02/2021 09:55

Ahhh congratulations @crabette that’s wonderful news and another BFP in the thread ❤️

Is there a running record for positives? This month seems to have had a fair few

Flowers222 · 03/02/2021 09:59

Eeek congrats @crabette!!! Great news to see this morning, I am so happy for you!

And I am hoping you might be right about quick peak! 🤞 opks get stronger today. I had a little dip in temp this morning which usually happens a couple of days before ovulation.

LauraT94 · 03/02/2021 10:04

@Juno231 thanks! Will try and calm down a bit haha. I am tempted to tell myself just to give up for now until later in my cycle (could potentially be another two weeks away from O if CD35 is the day to aim for!). But with all the EWCM I've got at the mo, I just feel like it could be sooner! Will do an OPK this morning and another tonight after work and just keep DTD 🤷🏼‍♀️

@TheDaydreamBelievers haha I definitely think that 'just wait and see' could be the slogan for TTC 😂 I think with the missed miscarriage that was already enough of a head fuck waiting around! Now waiting for ovulation is pushing my anxiety through the roof. I want to be pregnant like yesterday. I'm so scared I'll miss it x

crabette · 03/02/2021 11:25

Thanks everyone! I feel like I’m in a bit of a dream to be honest. I was up most of the night, and then fell asleep around 5am - woke up late for an in-person work meeting, literally tested (to stop myself thinking about it all day) and threw myself out the door!

OH had already left for work so he doesn’t know yet - I’m not sure if I should have waited til he was home to POAS, but it was a split second decision!! He’s on his way now though so I’ll tell him in person shortly. I nearly Facetimed my bestie first thing but then reminded myself OH needs to know first!

@Gracie2021 and @MissC07 - congrats on the twin TWWs!

@Tillybabs I’ll do a proper write up of my experience like @Juno231 has asked, but I came off the pill in July and started tracking. I’d say we were not trying but not preventing for the first while, then properly trying from November.

@TheDaydreamBelievers my cycle was regular length 31 days, but ovulation anytime from CD19-23, so you’ve still plenty time!

Tillybabs · 03/02/2021 11:50

@crabette haha totally get out you almost did that out of excitement. How exciting!

That would be fab thanks.

MissC07 · 03/02/2021 12:07

@Juno231 Great news! I'm sure between me you and @Gracie2021 we can try and beat the POAS temptation - TWW triplets!

@crabette how exciting your OH didn't know! I hope you've been able to tell him now and can phone your bestie!

Juno231 · 03/02/2021 12:13

@MissC07 @Gracie2021 haha statistically one of must get a BFP right?? (I say this every month lol)

@crabette Ha I totally will blab before I tell OH.

This reminds me - I do have announcement crap at home I'm supposed to use to tell OH with. Problem is I've had them since March last year and god knows where they are now!

crabette · 03/02/2021 12:32

Ha, I’ve told OH now, he’s delighted. I should have done a big reveal thing but ended up just saying I was glad he’d finished early as I needed to talk to him about something, and handed him the test. He was like, NO WAY! 😂 Going to try call my bestie over lunch!

crabette · 03/02/2021 12:40

Ok, so a “brief" BFP overview as requested by @Juno231 and @Tillybabs!

I came off the pill (Rigevidon) in July 2020. I'd been on that, and before that Microgynon, pretty solid since my teens; aside from a 5 year stint of a Mirena coil in my mid twenties, which is also hormonal 🙄 - I’m aged 33, for info. I should also say I regularly ran multiple pill packs together for months / years on end, as I bloody hated AF!

I started using Natural Cycles to track my cycle when I came off the pill in July, and actually had the app set to ‘prevent’ pregnancy at first, as we weren’t “actively" trying before our wedding in October - I’d say we were kind of ‘not trying not preventing’, but I was tracking so knew what was going on! We were pretty fast and loose with it all.

I was having pretty regular 30-31 day cycles, though I noticed my ovulation dates were late and variable - ovulating somewhere between CD19-CD23, and my temps were quickly back under cover level post-O (I usually had the 3 days over coverline to confirm, and then temps went straight back down!) each cycle. I also noticed my periods, while regular in terms of AF timing, were SUPER light - to the point where I barely needed to use a pantyliner. Some light red spotting, and blood on the loo roll when wiping, but other than that nada! I wasn't even sure when to log CD1s. I was getting cramping and other symptoms before and during though.

I switched the Natural Cycles app properly to the TTC setting in November, and I started taking Vitabiotics Pregnacare supplements then, though I had a really odd cycle that month of 24 days. I think I ovulated CD18, but again only had 3 days over cover temp line, and only one really high temp - and then AF in November at 6dpo. This seemed like a really odd month so I wondered if it was actually anovulatory, or if it was the effect of starting the supplements, as they do say they can mess with your cycle.

I should say I was also using cheapie OPKs (Femometer strips) intermittently throughout cycle tracking, but while I had a few noticeable lines darker or lighter over days, I really struggled to actually catch a peak where the line was as dark as the control line. I also noticed my luteal phase was on the short side, and clearly had some issues with progesterone generally as my temps were back down quickly.

In December I switched to Fertility Friend app instead of Natural Cycles to data collect. However, I had a family bereavement and my temping and OPK’s went out the window! I logged CM and tried to time DTD around CD18, 19, 20, 21. Temp on CD22 was above cover, so think I did ovulate, but AF appeared as usual.

In January, I invested in ClearBlue Advanced Digital Ovulation Tests. I didn’t really temp, but started these CD9, and used once every day with FMU, as directed, rather than in the afternoons / evenings as I was using the ICs. I got two days of ‘low’; then eight days of ‘high’ CD11-18; then a peak reading on CD19. I also then got a positive IC OPK reading with FMU CD20 - which makes me wonder maybe if I’d used FMU with IC’s from the start I might have had more luck!! I also started taking B Complex vitamins (Thanks @Kay00!) as well as the Pregnacare supplements from CD21 to try to extend my luteal a bit, and while I wasn’t temping throughout the month, the sporadic temps I did take seemed to indicate higher temps for a longer period in my luteal phase after this, which I was pleased with. FF thought I ovulated CD20; Natural Cycles thought CD21, but NC doesn’t compute the advanced OPKs so I assumed FF was more accurate.

Symptom wise, CD25 (5dpo) at about 11pm I felt a quick sharp pain in my left side, and a pulling down feeling in my lower abdomen, which I did think could be IBS issues! But I googled implantation at the time, as it crossed my mind, though I know it’s early. Then CD30 (10dpo) I was quite nauseous during the day, mainly in the afternoon. But I’d realised at that point I was 10dpo with no pre-AF cramps or spotting, so also thought it might be nerves!! Between yesterday and today I’ve been having - not cramps - but like super mild feelings kind of like cramp - I don’t really know how to explain. I struggled to figure out if it was early cramping for AF or something else. Part cramp-type feelings, part just movement? I obviously know bean isn’t moving or anything yet, but not sure if it’s womb lining adjusting or whatever.

Got the BFP this morning with a ClearBlue Ultra Early Pregnancy Test (and FMU) on CD32, which is the day AF was due - 12dpo according to FF, 11dpo according to Natural Cycles. (Natural Cycle actually also prompted me to test then anyway though due to AF dates.)

Obviously I’m currently absolutely terrified! And will be on here lots to check in. Hope it’s the first of many BFPs on this thread this month!!

Gracie2021 · 03/02/2021 12:42

@TheDaydreamBelievers you've had a tough time of it, I'm so sorry. Hopefully it settles into a rhythm for you again soon. According to my reading, usually in a "typical" cycle the LP is approx two weeks and any variance depending on your cycle length will always be in the follicular phase so once you have a complete cycles you can work backwards that way. But the frustration I found is it's always hindsight....

@crabette I second Juni's q's and love a BFP story whenever/if you feel like sharing at some stage but no pressure. Still absolutely thrilled for you here. It's funny, like @Robyn101 I love a good BFP story online here and the Reddit forums as it makes me feel hope and like there's babydust hanging round but IRL not so much.... I'd be so tempted to tell the bestie first if he wasn't available too 😂 tbh OH is very stoic so I'd prob get a better reaction from herself 😂

@Juno231 we'll have to try stay strong and away from POAS together. Wonder who'll crack first 😂 it's great having company though. This chat is such a little lifeline!

@Flowers222 fingers crossed for O any day now!

@LauraT94 sounds like you have a plan. Even if you DTD 3-4 times a week you should be someway covered.

Tillybabs · 03/02/2021 12:48

@crabette thank you so much for the in-depth overview. It sounds like the supplements did affect your cycle a bit but not too much. I will look into having those as at the moment I’m just taking folic acid and vitamins D oh and Coq10.

I’ve read lots to say cramping is normal so try not to worry too much.

I’ve not done any temping but will look into this and start. I can tell though when I ovulate from the opk’s and also I can feel it some months!

Definitely keep us updated. Exciting if times for you xx

crabette · 03/02/2021 12:53

Oh @Tillybabs I actually meant to add my chart to that overview! You'll see I didn't temp before ovulation at all, only really checked it around when I knew ovulation was expected from the OPKs.

You can see as well we actually didn't DTD on CB peak day! But did the day after (which was when we'd fallen out and you guys all encouraged me to jump him anyway lol.)

I think for what it's worth adding the B Complex really helped me this cycle. The pregnacare combined one that messed with my cycle a bit at first includes folic acid, vit d and coq10, I kept taking them though and was fine after!

@Gracie2021 This thread is such a lifeline, totally agree!

Post Pill Party - The Mosh Pit !!
Tillybabs · 03/02/2021 13:01

@crabette ok interesting! Funny enough I’m still learning because it’s only last month I realised that you don’t ovulate until after the surge. So I can say there are a few months where I’m not sure we were even doing it at the right time.

I will add b complex to my list of vitamins lol

This thread is definitely a lifeline, it has helped me a lot. And it seems for you too! Lol

Moocher90 · 03/02/2021 13:19

@crabette congratulations on the BFP! So happy for you x please share your journey when you are ready xx

Moocher90 · 03/02/2021 13:20

@crabette cancel my last! I didn’t refresh and just saw your post 😂

TheDaydreamBelievers · 03/02/2021 13:29

@crabette great round up! Hoping all stays healthy and happy.

I love that you can say "well you know that time we argued? That was the ticket" haha.

I might start taking Coq10 ... I'm also wondering if I should be making DH take more vitamins (he takes Vitamin D... when I make him)

TheDaydreamBelievers · 03/02/2021 13:31

@Gracie2021 thank you :) . Yeah TTC is blooming annoying in that its all hindsight! We only know we have DTD enough when we know when ovulation WAS in retrospect!

This is why it would have been way easier to TTC at 20, when we were all over each other constantly Blush, rather than now when we have hard jobs and are knackered.

crabette · 03/02/2021 13:40

@TheDaydreamBelievers Ha, yeah 100%. Bizarrely he actually did say at the time, right after DTD that he felt like that was it! 🤷🏻‍♀️

For what it's worth my OH never took any vits and I'd say is pretty unhealthy lol, but I don't think it can hurt. The coq10 is part of the pregnacare conception supplement, but I know a few folk on here have taken it independently.

Totally feel you on the TTC now with hard jobs and being knackered! Pretty sure that's what our fight was about 😂
