Ovulation test pcos and conception

Hi I have PCOS and I've not had a period since July. I take lots of ovulation tests and none have been positive (I know that they can't be fully relied upon due to higher LH in PCOS) but today I had this. Would you say it's positive ovulation? I've been having some cramps and sore boobs which is unusual for me. I've recently changed my diet (about 4 weeks ago) and started taking some supplements after researching so I'm really hoping that this is working! Please let me know anyone's got any tips that I could try as I've been trying for almost 2 years now. Thanks!

Hi,

I also suffer from PCOS. I would say that’s a pea. They usually say the test line should be darker than the control line but some people only get the same darkness.

My tips which have helped me somewhat regulate my cycle and ovulate (albeit with a short LP but we’re getting there:

  1. diet and supplements (which you’ve already done
  2. exercise
  3. metformin ( I was given this by a gynae and it worked wonders for me, I know people it was awful for though so I guess I was just lucky)

Put your period dates and lengths into an app so you have it handy if you do have to see a gynae. Also, keep doing OPK’s. For my first couple of cycles with OPK’s I did it everyday until I got my period and the reason was that I had read sometimes you get an LH surge and don’t ovulate so your body will try again. As I don’t temp I assumed if I didn’t get a second peak then I may have ovulated on the first one.

Hope that helps. Good luck 😁

Thank you so much @Elakiya that's really helpful! Do you mind me asking what supplements you took that worked for you? 😊 thank you!

@eastview I took iron supplements. I was always tired and found myself eating more because I was tired and needed energy. I took prenatals (pregnacare although I loathe that pill). I also took cod liver oil but that’s because I am a weirdo and like chewing on the tablet.

I didn’t take inositol. Inositol is recommended for women with PCOS. A lot of women say it helped their cycles so definite one to try. I am unsure why I didn’t try it though.
