No I don't think the LH levels stay high. What you might have heard is that if you are pg you will show a positive on an OPK because the molecular structure of LH and hCG are very similar. Here this explains it a bit better www.peeonastick.com/opkhpt.html

HTH.

My advice would be to relax and not to test for pregnancy until you have missed your period by at least a few days, otherwise you will be feeling worse and worse with each passing month. Doctors here wouldn't refer me to a specialist till DH and I had been trying for at least 12mths. I took 21mths with DS1. 8mths with DS2 and 14mths with DC3.

Its and LH surge that makes you Ovulate its normal to just have one + OPK. It's this surge that makes you ovulate. If you get + OPK's for more than three days running then it would be advisable to do a pregnancy test because it would be likley that you were already pregnant.

If you got your + OPK yesterday you will probably ovulate today as the surge is detected 24 - 36 hours before ovulation. Sooo 14 days from today you should either have AF arrive or you can test with a pregnancy test to see if you've concieved.

The problem with OPKs as well is that a woman can easily have more than one LH surge every month. An LH surge thus does not equate to imminent ovulation.

Also if you are one of many women who produce higher than average levels of LH the kit just reads that excess.

They are certainly of no use at all if PCO/PCOS have been diagnosed.
