Hi all,
Been looking online but getting variants of the same kind of answer..
So I'm wondering how long after a peak OPK does your egg release?

Managed to press post before I'd finished - apologies!

I got my peak OPK on CB ovulation tests yesterday, lots of wet fertile CM this morning, wasn't able to DTD last night sadly as partner was away but hoping to be able to DTD tonight.
Will I still be in with a shot? X

Anywhere from 12-36h. I often ovulate same day as the peak but most people to 1-2 days later so definitely jump him today and tomorrow if you can!

When I was having IVF, the final dose of hormone to trigger ovulation was carefully timed. This was to mimic the surge that produces ovulation, so it's the surge you are detecting on your tests.

It was exactly 36 hours.

Having said this the test you are using will differ slightly because you test once a day so your strongest test is a snapshot of that 24 hour period of time.

Also sperm don't meet the egg right away. If it's natural conception then the window is wider as sperm live longer and can survive in your tubes.

If I was trying to conceive naturally I'd try and time sex to start about a week before ovulation (4-5 days before a positive OPK test) and repeat a few times leading up to ovulation.

Yes you are still in with a good chance, some swim fast!

The general rule of thumb is that if you get a peak OPK in the morning then the next day is classed as ovulation day. If you get a peak OPK in the afternoon then it's not the next day but the day after. But some people can ovulate pretty quick after a surge
