ClearBlue OPK confusion - short cycle

Please could someone give me some guidance on using CB ovulation tests?

I have quite short cycles, usually 26 days. I’ve just finished my period and am now on CD6. I took a OPK test this morning and got a flashing smiley. Is it normal to have this so early? I know I might get flashing smiley for quite a few days before I get my (static smiley).

Going by the Flo app, says I’m not due to ovulate until CD 11. Do you think I’ll just get flashing smileys up until that date?

Planning to DTD every other day up to getting peak (static smiley) anything else we should be doing?

This is cycle 2 of TTC #1 but first cycle of using CB OPKs. I know we haven’t been at this very long at all but I really want to give us the best possible chance this month.

Sending lots of baby dust to you all ❤️

Hi@acupofteamakeseverythingbetter. You'll likely get flashing smileys until one or two days before expected OD, which means you're in your fertile window and should have all the sex!!

Saying that, I started using the CB dual hormone OPKs and got three days of blank circles, but straight to a static smiley the day before expected O day. I did take it that evening, rather than morning, but it lined up with other pre-O signs. Good luck!

Thanks @Nellieee I think I’ll just try and DTD every other day from now on and see how we get on. Partner will be happy with that Grin

@acupofteamakeseverythingbetter had you used the CB holder before this morning?

Nellieee · 13/01/2021 19:31

Definitely!! 🍆🤪 I was also supplementing with line OPKs to cross reference, and got a high on Saturday. Then tested with CB on Sunday night which gave me a peak. I also have short cycles (26-27 days) so we sound quite similar.

Hi Ladies!
Very new here, 4 months into ttc 😊 1st month using the Clear Blue Digital Ovulation tracker (purple dual hormone detection).

Cycle length is 32 days
Been tracking since CD 11 as per in the instructions, got 2 days of O = not fertile and then have had 5 days of flashing smileys so far, Flo app tells me my Ovulation day should be tomorrow which I'm sceptical about now.
If I get my peak tomorrow, I will most likely ovulate on Saturday!
However I have read that some girls see up to 10 days of flashing smileys!?

I am interested to see when I get mine and how long my luteal phase will be! Learning so much 😍

IndigoJam · 14/01/2021 08:41

@iBurger I got 5 days of flashing before I got my static

acupofteamakeseverythingbetter · 14/01/2021 13:15

Hi ladies, it’s all very confusing isn’t it?! At least we have each other to help each of us figure it all out

@IndigoJam I tested the evening of CD5 and had the circle with no smiley face. Then in the morning on CD 6 I got the flashing smiley. I’ve tested again this morning and got another flashing smiley. I’ll just continue with DTD every other day while I’m getting flashing smileys as I’m obviously in my fertile window 😁

@Nellieee sounds very similar with our cycle lengths. I do feel very lucky to have shorter cycles as there’s never too long to wait for the next cycle to come around.

Before trying to conceive it felt very unfair that I seemed to have periods much more often than my colleagues and friends but now I don’t mind so much! 😂

@iBurger it really is a massive learning curve isn’t it?! It’s only our 2nd month TTC conceive but like you, it’s my first month trying the CB ovulation sticks.

I’ve also heard of lots of women who have had flashing smileys for days and days... hopefully that won’t be the case for us!! Xx

@acupofteamakeseverythingbetter
Firstly, I love your name ^, couldn't agree more!

Huge learning curve, but so glad I have decided to do it this month because I was worried about it causing stress etc.
But it shows that I'm not really ovulating when the app tells me I should, which I know is just a prediction anyways! But I could have been bed dancing on the complete wrong days Confused haha.

Tested this morning, day 6 of flashing smileys! Smile

Good luck to you ladies!!

acupofteamakeseverythingbetter · 15/01/2021 08:39

@iBurger 😂 thank you!

Just thought I’d check in to see if anyone has had their static smiley this morning?

I’m currently CD7 and still flashing but I don’t think I’m due to ovulate until Monday (CD11) according to my Flo app.

Ooop just checked Flo app I’m CD8 today not CD7!! That’s good, one day ahead 😂 x

@acupofteamakeseverythingbetter

Sorry I am terrible at responding some times!

So I got my static smiley on Sunday night, I believe I ovulated yesterday as I was feeling some real cramps/pulls in my lower abdomen!
Hopefully we got the timing right!

How did you go? 😁

acupofteamakeseverythingbetter · 20/01/2021 22:13

Hi @iBurger I got my static smiley on Monday! Now we need to sit tight for the TWW! 🤞🏻
