Chart help - low progesterone?

Hi Ladies,

I’m fairly new to charting (this is month 4 but the first 2 I didn’t ovulate), from last month and this month it seems I have a temp drop at 5dpo which I’ve read is like an estrogen surge and perfectly normal.

My temps started dropping at 8dpo last month with a 12 day leutal phase and this month it seems they’ve started dropping at 7dpo. Does this mean I likely a progesterone issue?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

@kay00 correct me if i'm wrong

OP I don't know if it's a progesterone issue per se, but can often be helped with a Vitamin B complex? I tagged Kay above as I'm pretty sure she managed to extend her LP from like 9 days to 13 with her Vit B concoction!

Thank you @Juno231.

My LP was 12 days last month, so not too short, but my temp started dropping from 8dpo and this month it’s started from 7dpo which is what makes me worry I might have a progesterone issue.

Could you post last months chart to compare? :)

Sounds basic but are you taking your temp to strict variables - same time everyday, not having drink, do you sleep with your mouth open? It has dropped but only to just your cover line and not back to pre ovulation levels.

Your general temps seem reasonably high/good, I know one of the symptoms for progesterone is lower than 35.6 in the follicular phase.

Hi @sabrinathemiddleagewitch I have attached last months chart.

I’m using OvuSense to track my temp and it measures core body temp every 5 minutes over night and gives you an average so it is not affected by things like sleeping longer, going to the loo in the night etc. I plot my temps in fertility friend as I prefer the look of this than the OvuSense app.

@Waiting2BAMummy ah I didn't realise the LP was 12, I understood it as stopping at 8! Tbh your chart looks absolutely fine last month, it doesn't look out of the ordinary to me at all. And actually the temps in the most recent chart are objectively fine too - I think seeing them be so close to the coverline might be concerning to you but the only reason the coverline is so high up is because you didn't temp for the first half of the FP?

Waiting2BAMummy · 13/01/2021 18:37

Thank you for your input @Juno231 I'm still new to all of this so any drop in temp and I assume there must be an issue.

There are no temps logged for the first half of my FP because I'm using an OvuSense sensor that is inserted like a tampon so cannot be used while the witch is in town.

My pre ovulation temps were higher this month than last, which made my cover line significantly higher than last month, but that was because I was eating crap over Christmas. Next cycle they will be back to normal and it will be easier to see the difference in my post ovulation temps.

Thanks for posting your charts. It looks completely normal and there is 13 days of a Luteal phase, you need minimum of 11, ideally 12 for conception so your 13 is fine.

The drop in temps does not indicate a fault in your hormones, just that they are dropping in preparation of your period. Some people's drop the day of their period, some 2-3 days before. As long as you have still got a solid 12-13 days before your bleeding begins you are fine. Your temps are also nice and a high with a large increase, showing your body is surging in progesterone and working correctly

thank you @sabrinathemiddleagewitch you have really put my mind at ease.
