Hi has anyone come off Rigevedon pill? Was previously on micro Gynon. I've been on for 9 years. If anyone can answer the questions below with length of time on the pill please 😁

Q1- how long did it take for periods to resume
Q2- how long did it take to conceive after stopping the pill?

Me! Took 9 months for my periods to resume after stopping. Sadly I’m still not pregnant though but that’s not because of the pill.

MMG21 · 12/01/2021 14:18

@greencauliflowers oh really? And I'm sorry you're still waiting. Last time I was 20 and I hadn't been on the pill for very long 4 years and I conceived in 6 months. But this time ive been on it for 9 years and I'm almost 30 so naturally my chances are lower this time im just worried I won't get my periods back because I did abuse the pill a bit I used to keep taking without a break if I had a night out or holiday etc

I’m sure they will come back. I was on it for 5/6 years and then microgynon before that. I took mine without a break for 3 months or so but then had a break every 4 months ish. GP assured me that was fine so I wouldn’t worry. If they don’t return in a few months, get your bloods done. I did and typically period arrived a few weeks later

I think microgynon and Rigevidon are essentially the same pill, arent they?

I was on microgynon then Rigevidon for 12 years solid.

Q1- had a withdrawal bleed then 141 days to next period
Q2- conceived on cycle 2, 6 months almost after stopping pill. Unfortunately had a MMC discovered at 12 weeks
Q3- not me but they definitely can.

@Greencauliflowers I hope so yeah I will see a GP if not returned by Feb or so. Just hard with Covid as I'd feel like im wasting their time a bit. Hope you get a BFP soon

@thedaydreambelievers oh wow 141 days??? And im really sorry it ended up in a MMC 😭 hope u get a BFP soon
Yes rigevedon and micro gynon are the same pill just different brand not sure if there's any differences fertility wise. I've been on rigevedon for about 3 years i think 6 on micro so 9 in total. Also I don't know if this makes a difference but whenever I've had a smear test or internal they've never been able to locate my cervix 1st time and when i got induced with my DD she said I had a cervix of steel 😭😭 dont know what that means but im hoping since having my DD it doesn't affect me TTC

she said I had a cervix of steel** as in the midwife lol

I'd think a "cervix of steel" was good - no chance of cervical failure!

How long since you stopped these pills? Theres a group on the conception boards of TTC post pill that I'm on, if you are interested in joining!

It took me ages to get back to normal after rigevidon. I had 2 months of what I thought were normal-ish periods, then 2 essentially 90 day cycles where both times I thought and hoped I was pregnant. I saw a fertility consultant who thought that basically I wasn't resettled until after that so about 8 months?

Eventually got pregnant 3 years after stopping the pill but that was a MMC but then after worrying about my fertility for years got pregnant without meaning to 2 months after.

Before starting the pill though I'd had odd cycles for years varying from 20-50 days so I presume its my body being unusual rather than the rigevidon.

MMG21 · 12/01/2021 15:15

@TheDaydreamBelievers yeah that would be great i only stopped them in December but its the 1st ever time ive stopped them ive never had a break or changed contraception in 9 years and even my nurse said at 29 she wanted to look into putting me on something else as the pill is no good at my age (cancer etc)). So I just wanted general advice on how long it can take for periods to resume. I think even after I hopefully get a BFP I won't resume the pill

Q1. Came off pill 29 May had withdrawal bleed couple of days later & then actual period 26th June.

Q2. Had another period on 25th July & then found out I was pregnant end of Aug ( LO is now 8 months old!!)

Q3- no!

From friends I have spoken to about it I think it really does vary massively. Sometimes happens before actual period sometimes can take a year for things to get back to normal! Good luck 🙂

Q1 Within 4 weeks of the withdrawal bleed, normal (29/30 day cycles resumed) but was told at my preconception doctors appointment (before pandemic) that it could take 6-12 months for some. Also weight and other medication can influence. Q2/3 Don't know!
MMG21 · 12/01/2021 16:39

@glassacorn thank you, i am due AF on 19th (possibly) im just going off a 28 day cycle since my withdrawn bleed. So if it comes back I'll know then that I can track it properly or try to. If i class Feb March as my actual trying months and this as a 'get back to normal' month then I think I'll feel better.
