Anyone trying to come off meds before TTC?

DH and I planning on TTC in november. Am currently in the process of trying to come off pain meds before then. Taken 3 months so far and am probably about a third of the way there. Anyone else in a similar boat?

I'll be stopping my anti depressant couple weeks before TTC

I did this. It took me a year to come off them. Then I could come off the pill. It was hard but the relief when you can finally try for a baby like others do is amazing, feels like a huge step even though its nothing to others! Hard to explain to others who have not done this. Good luck ❤️

Well done on getting off them @Lovebug06. It's hard going isn't it. I wasn't expecting it to take this long so I'm really relieved I spoke to GP so early! I'm really hoping I can be off them by August and then have my coil out then and have a couple of months for everything to stabilise. Did they give you anything else whilst trying / pregnant or were you totally medication free? I'm dreading the pain levels of me being totally off them. GP has referred me to chronic pain team and hopefully it won't be as bad as I'm anticipating too.

Good luck coming off the ADs @chickychicchic will you be trying soon?

Hopefully next month or so

I had two really big awful flare ups as well my usual ones but then it's been okay in general, not as bad as I thought it would be.They did say they didn't know if my flares would end, they could just carry on and they didn't, they stopped so I think I've been lucky and the doctors said that it doesn't mean I'd be as lucky if I do it again in a few years. I think it's just different people's reactions and maybe just at the time too. I feel okay now and I'm two years since I first started coming off meds. I was meant to come off everything but in the end they said I could stay on the last couple, as it was more harmful for me coming off them, than to a baby but I will need to come off in pregnancy. They told me it could have taken another year to get them out tooShock. I found it so hard myself, and don't think others get it. Being able to just come off contraception is just nothing to people but huge to others, I felt so so happy when I finally got the go ahead to come off the pill. Im now a year into that as well, but I still count my first year as part of the baby journey. Others don't as they just don't get it. But it is all part of getting our babies! Wishing you all the luck in the world Smile

Thank you so much @Lovebug06. Good luck to you too! Coming off meds can just take so long can't it. I think for some it's as simple as just stop taking them but for others it can take months if not years depending on what we are on and what they're for.

That's okay, I felt really alone when it was me so it's good to be able to reply and even give some support to someone going through this.
