Pregnacare - Issues

Luan82 · 11/01/2021 07:04

Hi ladies, just wanted to ask if anyone had experienced any issues with pre natal vitamins? My doctor suggested I take them and after an ectopic I was treated with medication that stripped all my folic acid, so I started on pregnacare vitamins - this is the second time I've been on this vitamin purely because they seem to have so many fertility boosting ingredients. Unfortunately this is also the second time that my cycle as been competed out of whack, currently on day five of delayed period and lots of super lovely PMS symptoms like high temperature, CM and very sore boobs. Pretty furious this month as I actually got my hopes up that I was pregnant again, after reading the box there is actually a disclaimer which states it can result in longer cycles !!! 😡😡😡 anyone else experienced this? Xx

When I took it it made my period late too, a lot of people say the same!

Luan82 · 11/01/2021 15:49

@Alicespring - it's so so bad, I can't believe they're allowed to sell this product !! I've stopped taking them now and chucked them in the bin but just worried about the damage I've done to my cycle now !!! And the symptoms are so so bad - I've never felt so bad before my period - no cramps yet either so think I've got a few days before I get any relief ... Arghhhhhhh 😡😡😡 xx

@Luan82 my cycle went back to normal after stopping them so hopefully will be the same for you!
The folic acid and vitamin d combined from boots were what I was taking when I got my BFP. Much cheaper too

Wiggleinherwalk · 11/01/2021 16:09

Took Pregnacare conception when we were TTC - messed up my cycle completely (was usually 30 days like clockwork, but ended up being 42 days and ovulated super late) BUT the good thing is as soon as I wondered if there was a connection and stopped taking them my cycle got back to normal pretty much immediately. So hopefully no lasting changes for you now they're in the bin!

For TTC Boots do a combined Folic Acid & Vit D pill that's tiny and much cheaper - would recommend that as a supplement as think that's the main 2 things you need?

Also to add that I started taking Pregnacare vitamins when I eventually got pregnant and they made me feel AWFUL!! Felt so nauseous I could barely stand up or even drink water, which again stopped as soon as I wondered if it was connected and stopped taking them. So back to my tried and tested Boots pills with some extra Omega-3 from Tesco - think sometimes the hefty multivits are just too much and overwhelm your body!

Wiggleinherwalk · 11/01/2021 16:11

PS, really sorry to read that you went through an ectopic pregnancy, hope it wasn't too horrendous Flowers

Luan82 · 11/01/2021 16:49

@Alicespring amazing I'll look at those just have to hope they come out of my system - quickly !!! 🙄🙄🙄
@Wiggleinherwalk - thanks so much !! It makes me feel so much better that I'm not the only one who has experienced this, I'm currently taking the ultra absorbent folia and my fertility consultant advised vitamin D spray under the tongue each night supposed to help reduce chance of miscarriage and also reduce covid symptoms too should you catch it
Can't believe the pregnancy vitamins were the same !!!! Best to avoid completely then!! I'll definitely look at boots in future xxx

Same here! I started taking them and they messed up my cycle completely! I just take individual vitamins instead of a multivitamin now, Vit C and D included.

cheesebubble · 11/01/2021 17:12

I used wild nutrition for fertility as it's all good grown. I know it's pricey but felt like it's worth it, they often have 20% off!

I'm sorry this has happened to you with pregnacare x

cheesebubble · 11/01/2021 17:12

*Food grown

SEpoppet · 11/01/2021 17:16

Yep, delayed me by days and am usually bang on. Ladies with a short luteal phase might find them helpful for extending it but as if anyone else wants a longer cycle!

Luan82 · 11/01/2021 22:03

@unCliche I cannot believe how many people have experienced the same, I even tried to cut them in half and only take half a day with my usual folic acid supplement just in case they caused issues again and here we are - same thing! Five days late currently and it's driving me mad, as I've just turned 38 I'm also super paranoid about annovulation too!! X

@cheesebubble - thanks for this I'll check them out - I pay a bit extra for the highly absorbable folate tablets so don't mind paying extra if they're worth the money x

@SEpoppet - zackly! I've only just got my cycle to more or less where it needed to be as well, very regular 28 days with surge on the 16th - damn you pregnacare!!!! 😈x

Glenpatrick · 11/01/2021 22:28

I didn't like pregnacare at all made my cycles late and I got really bad cramps with them - as soon as I stopped taking them the cramps stopped and I just took folic acid and vitamin D

Luan82 · 12/01/2021 07:17

@DueMay2021 - I haven't had any cramps but did get terrible pms symptoms my hormonal rage this month as off the chart !! My period finally arrived today after stopping taking them thank goodness makes you wonder what ingredients can have that effect on your body ! x

I had 2 39 day cycles the two months I was taking pregnacare I was so annoyed!! Swapped to seven seas folic acid and my cycles are regular to the dot for the last three months so back to 28-29 days. I’ve read a lot of problems caused by pregnacare would definitely recommend the seven seas folic acid it’s half the price and a lot better!

Luan82 · 12/01/2021 09:51

@Dex1521 amazing !! I've actually got a pack as my sister used those when she conceived so will definitely give them a try next. I just want to make sure that more people know about the dangers of pregnacare especially when trying to conceive it's genuinely the last thing you want to go through as if it's not hard enough, unfortunately I'm going to have to monitor myself carefully the next two weeks and take a few pregnancy tests as the only other time I bled this late was due to an ectopic so it's particularly important that I regulate my cycles as much as poss 😫😤 I have written to the company to complain but yet to hear back surprise surprise ... 🤡🤡🤡 's x
