Has anyone had the snip fail?

Dh had the snip in Jan 2020. He's had two tests since then and the first still had sperm in it but the second was fine. We thought that was that and stopped other contraception. I am now a week late getting my period and I'm starting to wonder if maybe the snip hasn't worked after all and I'm pregnant. Surely this is really unlikely, isn't it?

It’s unlikely but it can happen. That’s how my cousin ended up with baby number three.. 6 months after he got the all clear. And it was 110% his (before anyone asks.) it might be worth doing a test to put your mind at rest. Xx

It's about 1-2 per 1,000 that fail. So some do, but odds are in your favour.

I worked with a guy once who's 'tell us a bit about yourself' story was a very graphic description of how his youngest two children (twins) were the result of a failed vasectomy and he accused his wife of cheating.

Ok. I found an old one in the cupboard. It expired in September 2020. It says negative. Do I need to get a fresh test or will that be ok?

@lovablequalities the whole team (maybe about 15 people) were just sat there mouths open but he just kept going...!

No idea what dictates the expiry date on a pregnancy test, maybe if AF hasn't shown up in a couple of days you should get a new one and test again?

Yes seriously they weren’t best pleased but he’s very much wanted now. I’m sorry. Glad it came back negative tho! I agree with the above, if it hasn’t shown up in a couple days but another one. Xx
