My fertility journey & now starting Clomid - Any advice or experience?

I have a child who is 9 and fell pregnant easily. A year or so after I was diagnosed with PCOS after a scan. I suffered with an eating disorder and my periods stopped for 6 months. I then went onto various contraceptives (pill, depo) as my circumstances changed. I then tried the Mirena coil and everything seemed great on it till it disappeared and at the same time I started being in lots of pain so had a pelvic scan (to locate coil) and discovered I had a 6cm ovarian cyst which a few days later I ended up heavily bleeding so was admitted to hospital and had cyst removed. The consultant also removed my coil and upon waking from surgery told me that it'd started to embed in my uterus and it was that which caused the bleeding and pain.

Fast forward to more recent, I'd been on the depo again since (no probs). I stopped it two years ago to TTC with my partner (not my Childs dad) and finding it really, really difficult to conceive :( He has had two sperm evaluations as the first was low but the second was much higher (although slightly low morphology) but the doctors seem to be fine with him now and back looking at me. I've tried ovulation tests (which always showed a surge), I've had a Hycosy which everything was fine and just finished 3 cycles of Letrozole which was a high dose. My 21 day blood test showed my progesterone at 23 and it apparently needs to be over 30 to have ovulated. I'm not due to start tonight Clomiphene. He's prescribed me 100mg a day (day 2-6) so from what I've read again is another decent/high dose but I didn't get to speak to him properly and feel a bit anxious as hear lots of lovely side effects with these! Is it true they're better taken at night? Also online I read that there's a 10% chance of developing an ovarian cyst with these so I'm not sure if I should try and book a private scan after the first cycle to make sure I haven't got one again? I have two rounds of this then another blood test. If I ovulate on it then I'm allowed another 4 goes, if not on the sheet he gave me it said Gondatropins may tried after or keyhole surgery to make holes in my ovaries... Any experience or advice greatly appreciated!

@Suki2020 yeah, she wasn't THE most understanding but I need her help with this so we'll see how it goes. Have you had anymore side effects on the Clomid this time? When's your scan again too?

@Crazydoglady123 that’s a shame. No just some hot flushes. My scan is 15th March

Suki2020 · 02/03/2021 08:53

Hi ladies how are you all doing?

Crazydoglady123 · 02/03/2021 09:59

Hey @Suki2020 I'm okay thank you. Just waiting for AF 🙄 How are you doing?

OP posts:
Suki2020 · 02/03/2021 13:26

@Crazydoglady123 yeah I’m good thanks, waiting for ovulation now. I’m cd12 now so it should be sometime this week

Suki2020 · 07/03/2021 08:03

Hey, how is everyone doing?

Crazydoglady123 · 07/03/2021 08:47

Hey @Suki2020 I'm okay thanks! I had a spiritual reading last night and although I caved a bit too early in telling her I was having problems TTC I've taken from it I'm going to get pregnant on the Clomid next cycle, to twins, a boy and a girl and have them at Christmas 🤣🤣🤣 I'm cd27 and feeling like af is very due and spotted after DTD Friday night but she hasn't come properly yet... Have my AFC scan and AMH blood test Tuesday with the IVF clinic. How are you doing? Did you get a positive OPK yet?

Suki2020 · 07/03/2021 10:14

@Crazydoglady123 aww that’s exciting. I’ve had one done before too. I told her nothing about me and she only knew I was joining about 10mins before haha as she was at my mother in laws doing it. Was that you first one?

Crazydoglady123 · 07/03/2021 10:56

@Suki2020 I'm usually like that, give nothing away as I am really sceptical! This was my third time but second time with her. Last time was Sept 2019 and she brought up then (without me saying anything that time) that I was having problems in my uterus/ovary area and I was worried I couldn't have more children but I could and I chose the daughter card amongst the cards I picked which she said shows I will have a little girl.
Any news your end? How are you both doing @Ronnii and @HT1507

@Crazydoglady123 no nothing new, still waiting for ovulation. On cd17 now, last cycle I ovulated on cd19 so hoping it happens soon. Doing OPK’s 3 times a fat now to make sure I don’t miss my peak. Getting on and off cramps on the left side but OPK’s defiantly not at peak yet.

Ronnii · 07/03/2021 17:16

I'm good thanks, symptoms have calmed down my main thing now is going off most things I used to eat and not having the stomach to cook. So it's cereal, sandwiches and fruit now

Suki2020 · 07/03/2021 18:31

What cd is everyone ovulating on? I’m worried that mine is happening too late. Last cycle was cd19 this cycle I’m on cd17 today and still waiting for my peak. Really need some advice

Crazydoglady123 · 07/03/2021 18:38

@Suki2020 ahh you must be going out of your mind waiting! I'm going to try Soy Isoflavones alongside my Clomid this cycle. I'm spotting a bit redder blood now so probably tomorrow will be AF.

@Ronnii oh bless you! I was really lucky with DS and had no pregnancy symptoms like that or sickness.

Crazydoglady123 · 07/03/2021 18:40

@Suki2020 do you think you could have peaked between last cd16 & cd17 tests? Especially if your having ovary pain too?

Suki2020 · 07/03/2021 19:00

@Crazydoglady123 I’ve not had a temp rise it has fallen again this morning. I have my scan and bloods next Monday so I really need to ovulate in the next couple of days. Do I cancel the scan and bloods if I haven’t had a peak by wed?

Crazydoglady123 · 07/03/2021 19:06

@Suki2020 no I wouldn't. My consultant said the Clomid should regulate my cycles to a normal cycle so maybe if they see you haven't ovulated they may increase the dose or go for a different plan? Have you been on Letrozole yet? They both do the same thing, just work in different ways. My body didn't respond to Letrozole but did Clomid so you may be the other way around...

OP posts:
Suki2020 · 07/03/2021 19:09

@Crazydoglady123 no I haven’t tried letrozole. How many cycles did you do on it before they changed you to clomid?

Crazydoglady123 · 07/03/2021 19:22

@Suki2020 three and on the third I had CD21 bloods which showed they weren't making me ovulate so my consultant moved me over to Clomid but I think normally consultants start on Clomid and then move to Letrozole.

OP posts:
Suki2020 · 07/03/2021 19:25

@Crazydoglady123 it’s weird how some respond to one treatment and not another isn’t it

Ronnii · 07/03/2021 19:53

@Suki2020 I'm sure I ovulated on day20 when I got BFP. I ovulated late before so I did think clomid would make it earlier. Not sure about the scan, there was no plans for me to have scans

Suki2020 · 07/03/2021 20:02

@Ronnii I usually ovulate late as I had long cycles before clomid. Did you take 50mg or 100mg?

Crazydoglady123 · 07/03/2021 20:07

@Suki2020 definitely! Either way, with regards to the scan definitely keep it. If you're due to ovulate then they will see a dominant follicle and if you have already ovulated then they will see a corpus luteum or if like my scan last week when there was nothing that showed I wasn't ovulating or going to this cycle so you will get an answer and your consultant can decide what to do from there if need be

Suki2020 · 07/03/2021 20:12

@Crazydoglady123 yeah guess it’s just another waiting game. Never imagined trying for a baby would be this hard.

Ronnii · 07/03/2021 20:14

Was on 50mg

Crazydoglady123 · 07/03/2021 20:56

@Suki2020 it's such a frustrating journey 😔 When's your scan again?
