Hello everyone!

This is my second month using OPKS’s.

My question is, I don’t seem to be getting near my peak at all, despite seeing it quite clearly last time.
Can anyone have a look at my charts (the first from last month and the second from this one) and let me know if they think my peak is coming up or I’ve missed it?

I’m currently at the same point in my cycle where I had the peak last month and am having ovulation type symptoms like EWCM and pains.

Please help if you can Flowers ❤️
Thank you

It doesn't look like you got your peak yet, but if you have fertile CM, it means ovulation is imminent. Keep testing and best of luck! ❤️

CD14 got close but it looks like your peak hasn't happened yet. The day of ovulation can change each cycle so keep testing, probably best to test twice a day now that you're close.

Thank you @eloiseislost and @ButterscotchBabe
Do you think there’s any chance I’ve missed the peak? Just not tested at the right time?

@WicketBasket There is always a chance that you will miss your peak, but the fact that you have fertile CM points to ovulation coming in the next few days. As @ButterscotchBabe said, you might want to test twice a day, one in the afternoon, one in the evening.

Thank you @eloiseislost!
I’m starting to test twice a day but it’s odd because I’m getting close to the peak and then low levels again. Last cycle it was a very obvious progression with high one day and peak the next. Is this normal to fluctuate so much?
Also after how long should I be reading the strips? I’ve been waiting 5 minutes but earlier, the reading was low at 5 minutes and an hour later was much darker on the same strip Confused

And can you ovulate without getting a peak? Sorry for the questions @eloiseislost GrinFlowers

No such thing as too many questions here! 🙂
LH may fluctuate, it doesn't always follow a perfect bell curve pattern. It may also be different from cycle to cycle. Once I had 2 LH peaks, 5 days apart. Also how diluted your urine is will play a part. What I do is:

  1. After first morning urine, I drink my coffee, have my breakfast etc, then pee again. After that, I don't drink anything for 2-3 hours, hold, and then test. That's usually around 9am for me.
  2. At 5pm I pee, then stop drinking for 2-3 hours and test one last time for the day. You don't have to follow this specific pattern but the important thing is to keep the conditions as consistent as possible. Test at roughly the same time every day and with the same hold. Read the instruction on your tests package, it should tell you exactly when to read them. Mine say 3-5 minutes, I read at 5. Again, it's important to read them after the same amount of time every time.

Technically, you can ovulate without getting a peak. Some women never produce enough LH to test positive on a strip, but that doesn't mean that their LH didn't rise. It doesn't sound like this is the case for you though, since you normally get a peak. You may also get a very short surge and miss it, that's a possibility.
The only way to confirm ovulation has happened is by taking your BBT (basal body temperature) which will be elevated after ovulation, compared to before.

Thanks so much @eloiseislost!

Those are good tips and I do normally read after 5 minutes (which is what the instructions say). I think as this is only my second month using them and I got a very clear pattern last time, I was just a bit confused as to what is going on 😂

Sounds like I should start using temping as well next month, but I do a lot of night shifts so was just a bit worried about how that would work. I’m hoping I get my peak soon as it’s difficult to plan DTD without it- I work shifts and my OH does too so a lot of times we miss the right time period I think. Gosh, this is stressful this TTC malarkey 😂Grin xxx

@WicketBasket I seem to get my peaks really late at night for some reason!

WicketBasket · 09/01/2021 20:02

Good to know @kaffy197! Perhaps I’ll start testing a bit later in the day then because I’m not getting anything in the day so far

@WicketBasket I usually test twice a day around the time of expecting it otherwise I can miss it
