Positive pregnancy test yet periods haven't come back after baby no 2

I took a pregnancy test today, which was positive after feeling nauseous and tired over the last few days (although my baby is teething so the tiredness is probably caused by that). Had unprotected sex approx 2 months ago as was still breastfeeding and my period hadn't returned (foolish, I know). Stopped breastfeeding about a month ago and still no period.
Do you think that I could be pregnant or would I still have hormones present due to bf? My baby is now 10 months old.

My understanding is that breastfeeding doesn't keep hcg high, so it's likely to be a new pregnancy. Perhaps get a scan, as this would be 8 weeks or so now?

You’re pregnant. You will have ovulated and become pregnant on the first egg release so of course you wouldn’t have had a period, you got pregnant before hand!

You are pregnant. Hormones related to BF don't contain HCG therefore will not have a positive test from BF. BF is not a fail safe method of contraception. Some women find it works well others not at all. For this reason BF alone cannot be recommended to prevent pregnancy.

False positive tests are so so so very rare.

You are likely pregnant. Best to see your GP for a blood test if you really are not sure. But breastfeeding doesn't stop Pregnancy, but it can reduce the chances.

Thank you very much for your replies- I will make a GP appointment! If I am pregnant, I'll have 3 under the age of 5 😮

Sounds like you are pregnant to me. Bf wouldn't result in higher hcg levels.

Congrats.

I had 3 under 5 too, baby has just turned one. First 6 months were very difficult in lockdown with a baby who didn't sleep and trying to homeschool but it got better. Now I'm home with the 3 as school/creche closed while we are both trying to work full time from home ....thats another challenge!
