Ovulation query

Hi everyone! Smile

I'm new here and I am in the middle of my 4th cycle ttc first baby. I think my cycle varies between 26 and 27 days going by my flo app and fitbit app. I bought clear blue ovulation sticks this month and it said to start using them cycle day 9, it's still just showing the blank smiley face atm! Flo app says I'm due to ovulate on Saturday and fitbit says Sunday so a day between them both.

Am I best to just keep using the ovulation sticks every morning and hope a smiley face appears?

I'm 29 and never been on the pill etc, just always used condoms. I know 4 months isn't long but you just assume it'll happen straight away!

Thanks! Smile

They will start to flash eventually! The thing with the clear blue is that you are meant to use them multiple times per day once they flash, so they can get pricey. I've been pregnant twice and used the Amazon cheapies as you can use them till your heart is content and may have a quick surge that could be missed.

I ovulate anywhere between cd17-22 so it really helps to track your cycles when you've seen a positive opk. They suggest ovulation is likely to happen though, not confirm it will or has. Only temping can do this.

Good luck! It took me 8 months to conceive both times and this is very normal Smile.

To get the most accurate reading, you'll want to test between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Juno231 · 07/01/2021 10:32

@beautifulmonument I thought CB OPKs specify FMU?

OP I agree wholeheartedly with what Chanel05 said - keep going!

Optimistic2021 · 07/01/2021 11:08

Thanks everyone! Will keep using them and hopefully get the smiley face soon!

@Chanel05 I didn't realise that when they start to flash you should use them multiple times a day. That will definitely get pricey, will look into the amazon ones for when these ones run out.

Trying to dtd every second day of the fertile window so hope that will cover things too. I just assumed it was best to check in the morning when your urine was stronger but I guess it makes sense to check throughout the day as you could ovulate at any point!

@Optimistic2021 I always found that when I had my peak, it didn't matter what time of day it was, the diluted urine would still give me a strong positive.

Juno231 · 07/01/2021 13:39

@Optimistic2021 with the amazon ones it even specifically says not to use morning wee as it's actually not stronger! LH surges most often in early morning so will be diluted in the accumulated wee from the entire night. I find second morning urine works better.

BUT I'm pretty sure CB asks for FMU usually so def refer to your instruction pamphlet. I think that's because they check both oestrogen and LH and not just LH like the cheapies do.

Birchtree4 · 07/01/2021 16:38

I only used my CB sticks once a day, at FMU, and got my BFP. Instructions say you CAN test twice a day if you wish, but once a day was fine (and cheaper!) for me. I just did cheap OPK every evening and it got darker than control the evening before my solid smile.

Optimistic2021 · 11/01/2021 13:03

I've used the clear blue ovulation every morning since the 6th and still haven't had a smile yet. According to my app I should have ovulated sat/sun (obviously that may not be 100% accurate) so unless I've had the peak during the day and missed it any other idea why it might not have picked anything up? Confused

Ewcm suggests I might have ovulated over the weekend, still got some today too. Have DTD every second day so hopefully covered anyway but confused as to why the sticks don't seem to have picked an LH surge up! Any ideas?

@Optimistic2021 I would keep using the cheap ones twice per day from day 9 onwards next month. Hopefully you don't need to tho, fingers crossed for you.

I never got a positive test on either cheap or CB, ended up going to the docs and explaining this after a while of trying and was given ovulation inducing drugs (clomid) I now have twins!

Optimistic2021 · 11/01/2021 13:31

@Snailandthewhale thank you, will try again next month and if nothing will contact the doctor. I never had periods for a couple of years due to my weight being too low but once I put on some weight they came back and been regular ever since so not sure if that has something to do with it or not Confused

Thank you and congratulations on your twins! Smile

Tested again this morning and I finally got a smiley face! Smile my flo app is a few days out as it predicted ovulation on Saturday so think I'll keep using ovulation sticks in future!

Thanks again for all your advice Smile
