Do you think I'm pregnant?

Hi,

I'm new here so forgive me if I get the acronyms wrong at all.

I took a pregnancy test this morning and it was negative. I think I am pregnant though as I have been nauseous all week including retching lots and throwing up once. Also a few cramps and lower back pain, different to how I usually feel when period is coming. Nipples are permanently hard and sensitive too (though maybe because it's cold). My last period started 26 days ago and my cycle is anythng between 23 and 35 days (I have PCOS) though usually between 28 and 33. I had a horrible metallic taste in my mouth for a day about 5 days ago but it went away after a day.

Is it too early to have nausea (I am sure it could be all in my head now I've started thinking about whether I am pregnant)? Also which early tests do you recommend?

Thanks,
Eleanor

All anyone can say is that tests do give false negatives.

scorpio1 · 26/10/2007 13:17

from what you say you could be 9 days away from period yet. wait until then, and test.

TwigorTreat · 26/10/2007 13:19

sounds to me like you have a tummy bug ... sorry

you can get false negatives though, particularly this early in your cycle .. you'll just have to wait until day 35 and test

SilverE · 26/10/2007 13:24

Yes, I've wondered if I've just got a bug and the rest is in my head. Guess time will tell... Only been with my bloke a few months (though I am sure he is the one!) so timing would not be ideal if pregnant.

You just have to wait until you are late enough to test. Unfortunately there are no early pregnancy symptoms which are a foolproof indication!

Tested negative this morning (29 days after last period) but still feeling sick and sore boobs. Have had light spotting (normally have heavy AF) - how soon after implantation bleed would test be positive if pg?

i know people who have had negatives up until 10 weeks.

expatinscotland · 29/10/2007 01:32

well, it's best to keep testing but if still no period and negative test at 14 days see a GP.

as i've gotten older, i've gone as long as a week late and not been pregnant.

if you have PCOS, it's probably best to go along to the docs if you're still late and getting negatives.

29 days is still pretty early.

daydreambeliever · 29/10/2007 02:21

Its annoying though to keep testing when tests are expensive. I started testing myself too early when I was pregnant, kept getting negatives, but I knew I was pregnant, I just felt different. my appetite mainly had changed. Eventually I got a faint pink line, which then got stronger a few days later. It sounds to me like you could be. But don't buy any more tests until a week or so has passed.

Having said that, a blood test, via your GP, will tell you the answer, they become positive much earlier than urine tests. And its free, why not book an appointment and get sorted.

I spend my life wondering if I could be pregnant. I want to be! Even this very minute right now. But am breastfeeding so probably not.

Yes, I would go to your GPs for a blood test Eleanor, you must be desparate to know.

Do you know whether you are ovulating or not?. I realise you're having periods but it is possible to have these without actually ovulating (particularly if PCOS is an issue).

Any spotting between periods should be checked to ascertain the cause.

TBH if you keep getting repeat negatives its not worth testing further, seeing repeat negatives can be very disheartening as well.

I would seek medical advice in any event - many women with PCOS do need some medical assistance in order to conceive.

I'm on Metformin. Am definitely ovulating - I get the egg white stuff. My doctor told me in the summer (the specialist, not the GP), that despite PCOS as I was ovulating every 23-38 days I was in as good a position as any 'normal' woman'.

Hi SilverE,

Re your comments:-
"Am definitely ovulating - I get the egg white stuff".

Have you had blood tests done confirming ovulation?. WOuld not trust ewcm at all if PCOS is an issue.

"My doctor told me in the summer (the specialist, not the GP), that despite PCOS as I was ovulating every 23-38 days I was in as good a position as any 'normal' woman'".

Hmmm. Again I come back to the above, blood tests need to be done every month to see if ovulation is happening. It is quite possible to have periods without ovulating. You should be seen on a regular basis and not left.

How are you finding Metformin?. Are you taking this solely; I ask as this can have good results if it is taken in conjunciton with clomid.

SilverE · 29/10/2007 13:00

Thanks - will followi tup with my doctor. Not on Clomid as just started TTC so want to give it a chance just with Metformin first.

Hi

I am really very worried and want to make out if i am actually concieved. I normally feel my nippels are sore even when i get my periods. Just want to know if i am conceived when will i feel the pain in my nippels if i am really concieved or not?

I dont have any other symptoms though. I feel i have ovulated on 25th (though not sure). From yesterday that is 26th i feel pain in my nippels. Is this any sign?

Pls advice how to make out if i am preg or not? Getting teansed

Thanks

eurochick · 27/07/2012 20:14

You just need to wait and take a test around the time your period is due, I'm afraid.

DollyA · 30/07/2012 15:34

Will the tender breasts when pregnant same as when felt before periods or is the pain worse??
