Following a cancelled (Well, postponed) wedding thanks to a Covid, OH and me have decided to start TTC our first. I came off of the pill in November, immediately had a withdrawal bleed and then cycle number one after 27 days following this in early December. I’ve now had nothing since.

We DTD unprotected on 29th December (Cycle day 22) and I apparently ovulated on 23rd December (CD 16) but I wasn’t testing religiously, nor was I testing more than once a day. AF, who has always arrived between day 27-28 (Even pre-pill) hasn’t shown up yet. I have had some brown discharge yesterday and the day before but this was very light and with nothing since. I suppose my question is how accurate are OPKs? Unhelpfully, I stopped testing on 24th December (LH levels dropped to 0.7 on PreMom app following OPK test that day) so have no bloody idea if they rose again and whether this could have meant I ovulated later than I originally thought. Ovulation was day 18 in my first cycle post pill.. I’ll test anyway and just wait for AF arrival if negative but a bit confused by what’s going on here.

Answers on a postcard appreciated! Grin

It's difficult to say without know your luteal phase length and exactly when you ovulated. If you have a standard 12-14 day LP then AF is due 4-6th January if you ovulated on the 23rd.

If you test and it's negative then I would assume you ovulated a day or so later than expected and AF will be due in the next 24-48 hours.

🤞 You get a clear answer one way or another.

Hi - there's actually a whole thread filled with us ladies who are TTC after the pill, as a lot of us are finding that our cycles can go wonky for a while afterwards.

Firstly, if you did ovulate on the 23rd then AF isn't late yet. Is this based on a peak OPK btw, if so on what date did you have a peak? I'm only saying this as you could have ovulated 2-3 days after your peak test.

Secondly, OPKs only tell you your body is trying to ovulate, not that it has. Post pill we often find that the body can have multiple LH surges before ovulation happens, and sometimes it still doesn't happen and the cycle is anovulatory. The only way to really know is to add temperature tracking to your regimen as well :)

Thanks both Smile

Typically, one hour after I wrote this, AF appeared! So, for me, peak OPK result was on day 15, so 22nd December. This makes my luteal phase 13 days (Assuming ovulation on day 16) which I’m really pleased with as it was only 9 last month. Even if it was a day or so later, it’s still a better length this month! Hopefully it settles in to this pattern now but will join the other thread to follow everyone else’s experiences and hopefully see (And add to) everyone’s BFP as they come in Smile

Sorry for the dumb questions, definitely still learning here! Grin

@PippityChippity haha that's typical isn't it! I find putting white knickers always makes the witch show up as well lol. Your questions weren't silly, glad your LP is a decent length this time!
